So many people are locked up for growing pot. In my mind everyone gets caught made a mistake somewhere, and a few just flat out unlucky.
I would think some major causes of being busted are
(a) not dealing with smell
(b) telling people, being known as "mass grower guy", then someone gets busted and rats
(c) bad luck, ie: flood in your rental, landlord gets to do emergency visit, sees op and calls cops
How else do you think people get busted?
I bet others get caught in the act of dealing, and that warrants a full search of the house and they get caught that way. It seems the people on here are very careful which is good, but there must be so many growers out there in jail getting caught some way or another.
One thing I was reading about with growing laws. Where I live, if you have known gang/biker affiliations you are screwed, they will push for maximum penalties.
Other reasons, maybe a jealous/bitter ex rats you out. A bad breakup can be the biggest security threat of them all!!
