Hey everyone,

This is getting ridiculous... I transplanted my girls from 7 to 15 litre pots (that's 1.5 to 3 gallon pots) last week. I did this 1 day before switching to 12/12.

When repotting them, I thought the roots were big back then... Oh how wrong. I woke up this morning, took a peep and now the fucking things are pouring out the pots!! It's crazy.. I got no idea what to do. I can't put them in 25 litre pots because they're HUGE. Besides, those are for mother plants and I just don't have the space.

Any suggestions? I really can't mess this up.

go big or stay home lol, you can only go with what you have for space, the roots will stop once they hit open air,
the problem your gonna get if your under potted is underwatering, your plant will need lots of it to make up for the lack of root space.
put a drip tray under your pots that go up over the drain holes,so you can water until they fill, this will give you extra water that can be pulled up by the lower roots inbetween your watering..

or put a baby pool underneath them, fill THAT with dirt and let the roots spread. lolololol.

Sorry, it's the coffee talking:dunce:

5 gallon buckets couldnt be much larger in diameter then the pots they are in now.

Just make sure you modify them for drainage if you decide to use them.

Other idea would be investing is some larger square potters. They are much more space efficient.

i usually grow a clone 3 weeks in 7 liter pots and then repot into 11 liter pots... veg them 2 weeks more and flower them.. ive never had a root bound problem...=) A good trick is to put hydro corals (clay balls) at the bottom of the pot so when the roots finally get there they hit air, stop growing and have something nice to rest into rather than just popping out of the bottom of the pot...

depending on how big your plant is... I dont think your gonna have a problem because the pot is too small....

Take it easy and PEace out

Where I am right now, 5 gallon pots just don't cut it. They're too way too big.

You can see that it's already cramped with 15LT pots.

Now can someone please provide me with a real solution? I really need help..

Yea but how will they make it? They've got another 15 days until the first 3 weeks of flowering are done.

when you water them, does alot of water leak out of the bottom?...
If not, there is still space in there... i wouldnt worry if i were you...
If you are worried what you can do is raise the plant from the pot, add new potting soil at the bottom and sit the plant back down on it.. it will give it another 5-8 cm of soil to use up at the bottom of the pot.... this also helps in preventing mold because some of the big roots at the top will uncover themselves from the soil and actually breath... that part of the plants root base will always be dry.. even right after watering.. and therefor prevent mold... I use that technic when planting outdoors... it rains alot where i live and rot happens fast... This has prevented mold on my last 3 grows out door

Never thought of that and it would work. Ok not insulting you just need a bit of info first
Did you put any dirt into the pot before you put that plant in there? You should have that plant to the top of the pot if its going to be the last pot you use.
I would tyr if you have cats get a new bucket of cat litter that is scoopable and use the big SQUARE TALL Contanier it is tall as hell yellow or white so you dont have to worry about light getting on the roots. Make sure you drill holes in the sides and bottom and put the plant towards the top of the bucket. So that you have around 10 inches or more of grow room for the roots.

p.s Your plant will grow like wildfire so watch it daily

Alright, I'll look into getting more soil then, this weekend. I'll get another 50 litres, lift the plants, add some more down the sides and the bottom, and it'll be ok I hope.

But are you really 100% sure the roots stop growing at the end of the first 3 weeks into flowering?

Thanks for your help bru,

Yup, after 3 weeks of flowering for plants that finish at 8 - 9 weeks, roots slow and stop growing ... Obviously if you revert your plant to vegging, itll start growing roots again... Sativas and especially haze's keep growing even in flowering.... so i would say there roots stop growing around week 5-6...

:) peace

Thanks mate. Wow lol, that means the Super Silver Haze (mostly Sativa) will keep on growing... I think I'll just fill the surroundings of the pot with dirt for her because the place I'm growing in is like a "pit". If you look at the pics you'll see what I mean.

I guess it's still cool though, once all the others are done at 8-9 weeks, the SSH will have all the grow room to herself for another month. A 600w for one plant lol, she's gonna rock it! :D

You don't have anything to worry about. Those roots just mean that the plant is growing well, and the roots are spreading as far as they can. There's plenty of space in that pot for a much bigger plant than your growing, so don't sweat it, it'll be fine. :)
