The primary role of citizen A is to create aggregate demand in the economy, it's actually by design that the poor pay no income taxes; Progressive taxation and all... And yeah, $1200/month is an exaggeration by far from my experience. My GF was on food stamps a couple years ago and got something like $70-80/month and when she was on unemployment (for only ~6 weeks BTW) she received ~$140 per week... Yeah, that's real exorbitant alright Jeff - better cut those benefits! I remember she could hardly afford her share of the bills during that time, I had to lend her money out of my savings to ensure bills were paid on time.

But government assistance for those two months or so that she needed it is just evil socialism! Fuck the poor people make 'em work more! No jobs? Too bad! Let 'em starve!

I think Jeff's number is very accurate. Total up Welfare, food stamps, social services and a litany of other costs and I'm sure we all wish it was only $1200/month.

I might be convinced to feed the children as they have no responsibility for their plight, but adults who have made bad decisions or are lazy fucks that haven't even tried to secure employment for years... yeah, let 'em starve. You know, the way it has been throughout 99.99% of mankind's history.

Okay so in my example, my GF lost her job because the company changed hands and wanted to "start fresh" - prior to company being sold my GF was assistant manager so it's not as if she was "lazy"... She had a bad but short string of bad luck and society helped her in her time of need; when she has money and no longer needs the assistance(she doesn't recieve any aid ATM) she will likely remember when she was in need of that assistance and gladly pay the taxes to support those programs.

I'm with you as far as perpetual lazies that try and live off of the government teet their whole lives, but how many people actually do that? And dont point to the 99'ers on unemployment insurance either - you know just as well as I do that there are no jobs for these people ATM as the economy isn't even creating enough jobs to keep up with population growth... I'm talking, how many people in normal times (full employment) just sit there and live off of unemployment insurance and food stamps, etc every single month? you realize there are time limits on welfare benefits in most states right?

You people make me sick. Tell me whats wrong with making the rich pay more taxes. About 30% of my check goes to taxes. The super rich pays about 15% from their checks. Whats fair about that. I have to live from paycheck to paycheck. 99% of the rich don't know whats thats like.
It also pisses me off when u call people on unemployment lazy. They had to work at one time to quallify for it.

so, obviously they are completely destroying their own empire..

and unless they are rather stupid, they must see that, so that suggests there must be ulterior motives to this behavior and plans in waiting for the moment society starts to crumble..

or they know something we dont and the masses will not ultimately matter. not in the long run, anyway and they are just amassing as much wealth and power as they can in the shortest time possible. (in fear?)

or they simply are this stupid and greedy and blinded by powerhunger. :)

Hey Jeff, people who are on unemployment PAID into it. That means they had a job. And if u read Mame quote, his gf was on unemployment for 6 weeks, not 99 weeks, sounds like she went and got a job.

I knew a girl who was working while collecting the whole package of government welfare by pretending to be retarded. She lived in a $1500 townhouse while working min wage and 20 hours a week.

Just an interesting story I though some might be intrigued by.

I have no problem with your girlfriend receiving unemployment benefits while she was out of work, as you said she was entitled to it and it was a temporary situation. From your reply you did understand who I was actually talking about. Welfare and unemployment benefits are completely different animals. And you should take a look at the numbers, there's a very large segment of the population that feeds off the welfare state, in so many ways and they have NO intention of breaking that pattern. And to be honest, your girlfriend can remember her previous situation or not, she'll pay her taxes or they'll throw her ass in jail, she has no choice in the matter... if she values what freedoms we are still afforded.

May not be politically correct, and it may not sit well with some folks on here, but freaks of nature they be. And yes, it occurs in other species, I understand that. Those particular animals are the freaks of their species as well. Not a religious thing... far from it, it's a common sense thing.

You're right, Democracy is based on that. That's specifically why the founders formed a constitutional federal republic, not a democracy which would amount to mob rule. For the purposes of protecting ALL citizen's rights and freedoms, it is just as important that the "rich" people are protected from the masses who might want to take from them that which they have earned. I personally find it revolting and wholly Un-American that taxes are not collected at a flat rate for all citizens, those with more will pay more and those with less will pay less. That is the ONLY scenario that is actually fair.
