Its Drying Too FAST, Possible To Slow It Down

Have a problem and Im not sure if its possible to fix...hope you pros can help out.

I live in Brooklyn, currently about 65 to mid 70's during the day and about 55 to 65 at night.

I hang my stems upside down in the attic, with a fan blowing on low...the fan does not blow on them...its just there to keep the air moving in the attic.

Problem...on the 2nd day...I checked the buds and they were crisp to the touch and the stems all made the crack noise when bent.

Everything I read...says they should hang for about 5 to 7 days...so is there a way I can fix this problem?

Thanks ;)

Yes, but what was the temp in the attic? You are better off in the basement than the attic.

Either way, if your stems are snapping, ur done. 5 to 7 would be for a slow dry. Ur's was quicker. Jar them up and keep a close eye on them. Dark, dry and cool is best for drying.

First thanks for taking the time to help out. I thought that if it drys to fast then it will not be as strong/good.

I'm not drying it fast on purpose, it is just happening that way and I would rather dry it the right way. I also do not have a basement...so I can only use the attic.

The only thing I can think of to slow down the process is to turn off the fan but I heard doing this is bad....cause if the fan is off it will cause mold.

sounds like its time to jar them up for atleast a 30 day cure

Yes, I know it was unintentional. Most mistakes are. When thinking of weed, always think cool. Weed likes it cool. :peace:

The basement or a cabinet is much better than the attic. I live in upstate ny (shout out to BK and queens) and my attic is kinda warm but my basement is cool which is where I always dry my bud.

Again thanks everyone for taking out the time to help out.

The reason why I have been using the attic is cause I'm more then positive alot of people said to use the attic...and alot of people say not to use the basement because of mold.

I have a basement I might be able to use....but am concerned that this may cause them to mold...any ideas?

or if I do use the basement is there a way to make sure I dont have a problem with mold?

Thanks again for the help

I think they'll be fine in the basement. If you are worried, then add a fan down there to keep the air moving.

Reps+ chitown (said I can rep until I spread more rep around of well)

Go strait to the jars so they can immediately rehydrate

1. if you need to add additional moisture; drop a fresh leaf or bud in the jar

2. small or airy buds or lack of humidity = less drying time.

I'm a firm believer in the paper bag drying and curing method

Temps should be in the 70's, and humidity around 50 - time must be adjusted if these are off

Fans will aid in drying the plants evenly, and reducing the chances of mold. If mold starts and is allowed to grow, it might ruin all of your crop. Mold looks like white fuzz and has an odor that is unpleasant. You can water cure if you start to see mold and save your buds.
