So.. just curious to know if there’s any effective methods to killing/removing These pesky ass catapillars aside from doing it manually, this far into flower. I’m sure this far into the season it’s hard to use anything other than your hands.. I’ve got a couple praying mantis lurking in and around my plantS probably helping me out. But I’m out there every day searching and removing any that I can see til I don’t see anymore. But I go back out the next day and pull off 5-10 more That I didn’t see yesterday lol. Getting so frustrated it’s almost as if the bastards just keep respawning in my damn bud lol. Any pointers or tips to make this an easier process, it’s been an everyday battle for a couple weeks now.

Never had to deal with budworms But in my veggie garden, caterpillars, tomato, army worms i have always just picked off. Hate those critters.
Good luck cuz they are hungry

Yea they are annoying and starting to get to some of my good looking buds. Hopefully I’ve taken out the majority of them because over the course of 2 weeks I’ve pulled about 30+ Of them off my plants. They are getting bigger and causing bigger damage. Very frustrating.

it doesn’t harm the buds? In terms of terp quality and all that? I’ve pulled at least 30 of these bastards All different sizes off over the last 2-3 weeks and it seems like every day it never ends.

This is good during veg. I would use the Monterey BT during flower.
I know it’s not ideal to spray anything on the buds, with that being said does this stuff effect the quality of the bud smoke? I don’t want to spray anything rn and risk ruining its potential cause it’s looking like it will be some quality sungrown bud.

from what i have been told, you spray once plant starts flowering. once every 7 days. the way it works is once they try to eat the plant, the spinosad attacks their nervous system and kills them. supposedly can do up to harvest, but i would flush for 2 weeks before harvest tho

might want to ask around more. but if its between losing yield and spraying, I'm spraying.

I have heard many here say they spray spinosad products during flowering. @Renfro i think said with commercial grows it is detected in the dried buds and rejected from sale at dispensaries.

how do you feel about washing buds after harvest? Do you know of the pros/cons? If rinsing them after harvest doesn’t harm the quality of the bud I might go ahead and use that stuff if manually removing them isn’t working good enough. But maybe me manually dwindling down the population over the past weeks and days to come Will be enough to slow or stop the damage.

At least you can pick them off. Last summer i got borer's that started at the base, and tunneled their way through the stems.

that’s about where I’m at.. especially since I’ve manually removed at least 30 catapillars. Some being very easy to Overlook and still removing at least 3-5 a day on each plant. Making me nervous and feel like I have a major catapillar problem. Also not noticing any significant damage so maybe not as big of an issue as I’m thinking. Hoping I at least took out the majority of them so far.

yea I’m just glad I’m not dealing with those ones. At least I don’t think I am. I haven’t seen any signs of entry on any stems.

So the biggest problem the bud worms cause is bud rot. When they get inside the buds you cant see them until its too late. They eat the buds and tunnel holes in them. Then there feces is what rots the bud. Ideally you want to spray spinosad during veg. Imo at least starting a few weeks before flower. I try not to use spinosad more then 4 times a grow. After they start to flower use the BT. Do it evrey 7 days even if you dont see worms. This is what works best for me. Good luck friend.
