A 1000w bulb on a 400 watt ballast? I read people putting 600w bulbs on 1000w ballasts, but that seemed worse and is backwards of my situation. I have plenty of 1000 watt bulbs and ballasts, but I just came across a 400w digital ballast and a blockbuster hood and only have 1000w bulbs. The prongs are different so they can only be used together. I'm imaging that one of two things will happen, the ballast will only supply the bulb with 400w and may work, or it won't be enough power to even get it running. I guess I will go buy a 400w bulb if I don't blow up my setup
Another thing, all my ballasts are 1000w mh except for 1 hps. Can I use either bulb in either one. I seemed to read mixed reviews
