Jack The Ripper

Spectrums Of Effects

Volcano

.

This is my second grow of Jack The Ripper, from seed I got 1 of 3 females and kept this clone. The effects from the first plant weren't what I wanted - mainly the potency wasn't there even after a long cure. I planned on letting this genetic chain go and germinate another 3 seeds, in that eternal search for the perfect pheno.

I've had only Kali Mist, Jillybean and White Widow cured for the past month so naturally I've been getting squirrelly for some variety. I clipped a couple colas off the Jack, a Bubblegum, Skunkberry and a Chemdog to add some spice to my day. I baked them at 106 C (~225 F) for 40 minutes and left them for an hour to cool and air out. The other strains were nice, a touch harsh but that's to be expected. A decent high for 2 hours off the plant.

I didn't notice the Jack The Ripper high until about my third bowl, hours later that day - it has a way of taking the mind into Imagination Land ... I become so forgetful I forget that I have a Volcano Bag sitting by my hand. Time and again, every bowl. This high that I'm getting from clear trichomed baked bud is as close to the spectrum of effects that I have found for my perfect high. It's the strongest bud I've ever had, and I have 23 strains in my garden now and have grown a couple dozen others that I didn't keep.

Vaporized this bud is so smooth, not the least bit harsh 12 hours after baking.

There's a lot of hype over TGA's (read Subcool as the public avatar) strains and the two biggest myths have been proven true for me: Jillybean has an overwhelming dreamcicle smell that fills the whole garden every time I brush against a plant; and Jack The Ripper is one of the strongest strains in existence.

Jack The Ripper did what I thought no strain would do, it took my number 1 spot from Kali Mist. Both fantastic but Jack has exactly the potency and type of high that I want.

Containers: 5 Gallon Root Pruning Buckets, rotated 3 or 4 times a day
Feed and Water: Once Per Week, 2 gallons per water. 1/2 recommended nutes every water. PH 6.3 - 6.8
Flower Legnth: Not sure, probably 10-12 weeks with 6 hours light.
Growing Style: Crop Circle Of Bud. Topped once; low stress training; stem tied to the bucket rim; branches grow up like small colas from a hydro line.
Plant Size: 14" tall and 18" diameter.

I'm vaping the JTR in the right of this picture, on top of the round, black Tommy Gun vaporizer. I had just clipped it last night, after baking it filled about 1.5 of that silver tin (1/2 cup). the plant above will yield 8 - 10 cups of 4 week cured bud: 16 - 20 silver tins or 4 or 5 ziploc jars with the green top. I usually get 1 - 1.25 ounces of 4 week cured bud per 2 cup zip lock jar (green top).

.

Onset: fast effect or creeper: 1 fast/5 slow: 1. Fast, the fastest strain I've had.

.

1. Up (stimulating) and Down (sedative): Neutral, very melow but happy

- Liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions: soothes
- Inspiring sociability and talkativeness: No, but that's not unusual for me
- Sedative and depressant effects: calming but not sedative

.

2. Head High / Body Stone: Head with pain relief

Energizing: Relaxing
Motivating: Focusing
Couch lock: Not at all

.

3. Tolerance: ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. "Over time" means the long run: months, years, decades. Very strong, cuts through my built tolerance like no other strain.

.

4. Ceiling: How high (of far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can be consumed until more hits are unnoticeable. Not sure, after half a Volcano bag I forget what I'm doing and day dream.

.

5. Emotional State:

Anxiety: Lessens for me
Euphoria: happiness
Calm: Yes, calming
paranoia: Not at all

.

6. Body: medicinal effects: I'm getting a root canal on a molar next week, I've got some ear and jaw pain that I've completely forgotten about until I read this section. The pain will be gone 3 seconds after I'm done this sentence.

Nausea: relieves
Pain: Excellent pain relief
Seizures: not sure, very relaxing on the muscles
Back: Excellent pain relief

.

7. Head: medicinal effects:

I was a movable punching bag for an excellent pro boxer for 4 years, I won't say sparring partner because I'm more of a Homer Simpson style boxer - I hope the guy gets tired of hitting me before the round is out. If he were training for a 6 round fight we'd spar 8 rounds, for anyone who's never been in a boxing ring that is a long time be be on the wrong end of a boxing glove. Boxing is the most cardiovascularly taxing activity I've done, in addition to death by 1600 razor cuts there are times that the pain from exhaustion is worse that the pain from getting hit.

After boxing I would quietly sit in a chair, which was often at an off angle facing a wall with no pictures. There was such a rush of endorphins and bliss that I became addicted to boxing, without a doubt the activity that would have killed me if I had kept at it.

This is what the high from Jack The Ripper is like to me - an absolutely perfect state of mind where thoughts seem to have no boundaries. The Nexus.

Depression: Lifts depression
Mania: Calms mania
Anxiety: Calms anxiety
Antisocial: I don't care
Anger: Calms anger
Rage: Calms rage

.

8. Duration: short 1 2 3 4 5 long: 4. About an hour right now. Very long for my tolerance build up, and for being bake cured right off the plant.

.

9. Potency: weak 1 2 3 4 5 strong: 5. The strongest bud I've ever had. Even when harvested clear trichomed and bake cured.

.

10. Taste: Slight lemon, baking always washes out the taste. Should increase with a 4 week cure.

On Order

I want one of Dr Greenthumb's strains for my 24 cubic foot challenge, I've been wanting to run Endless Sky but Doc suggests either Sour 13 or Iranian G13. I'm thinking Sour 13, I've been wanting some Sour crosses.

Anyone know about either?

Thank you for the report/info !!!
i have a question , , you flower with only 6 hours of light and 18 dark ?

Hey sniffer!

I flowered 6/18 this summer to cut down on the heat - I had lots of bud cured and didn't need large or fast harvest. I had read some of Subcool's posts on flowering 6/18 and I have read some posts on flowering an 18 hour day to speed harvest - 6/12 gives 4 dark periods every three 24 hour days.

6/12: reduces flowering time; reduces yield per square foot; reduces electricity cost per gram of yield

18/6: increases flowering time; reduces yield per square foot; reduces electricity cost per gram of yield

Good to experiment with, lots of fun.

Great report Hobbes. Very informative, well structured, and useful.

What's been your experience with the high from Jilly Bean? I was looking at picking that up along with some JTR.

Hey Butters!

"What's been your experience with the high from Jilly Bean? I was looking at picking that up along with some JTR."

Jillybean is without a doubt the best tasting strain I've had, an incredible lingering taste on the side back of the tongue. An indescribable taste to me, I can't compare it to anything.

Take the above in the context that effects are everything to me, I almost purposefully ignore taste and smell to focus on effects. I've got a Candy Store pheno, the entire grow room smells of blue jelly beans and if I brush up against the plant the smell is beautifully overwhelming, I think of the orange dreamsicles but the smell is of the blue.

I've read report after report of Jillybean being a small yielding strain but it's been a medium strain for me - on the plants below I got just over and under 3 dozen colas each. On one of the plants the best cola almost filled a 1 litre ziploc jar (fresh cut and trimmed). I gave the cola to a friend who had never gotten good bud before, he left it in the jar until it got mouldy. Then he threw out the 1 litre Jillybean Candy Store cola after I asked for it back to run a butane extraction - to save the honey oil for him. My fuck I laughed.

The high on the first set was sedative, I ran them amber. Not the high I has looking for. I took the next Candy Store clone cloudy and it was a happy relaxing high, not energizing but not sedative. I've got 3 plants in 2 five gallon buckets flowering now, I'm going to take them cloudy again.

I find that the effects of strains get stronger the more generations of clones the genetic chain has under it's belt. I'm not sure if the plants naturally get more potent as they mature - which makes sense. Or if my growing an curing of a particular strain gets better the more I grow it - which makes sense.

.

I forgot that I have a tin of 4 week Jillybean curing, I'll break it out tonight and do a spectrum of effects report. I'm finishing my Piker Magnetic Induction Vaporizer tonight, Jillybean will be the first strain used on a new strain of vaporizers! That'll be cool. Jillybean or Jack the Ripper .... gotta be Jack, that's my strain.

.

Check out post #74 forward in this thread for vaporizers, I've got a half dozen designs I've made plug n play from parts that can be bought at any local store. Because I'm concerned only about high purity, quality and quantity of hit my designs aren't limited by size or weight. An 8"x3" disk that looks like a Tommy Gun magazine gives a better hit than any direct draw on the market. I've made it into a Volcano Style vaporizer as well.

These next two reports are by people of which to whom I give bud. To.

I'll only do a spectrum report after I've ran the strain enough to get the maximum I can from growing, curing and consuming. If I would have given a report on Jack after my fist grow I would have written it off. I've found that for every stain I've grown, each has gotten better with subsequent clone generations. A well reviewed strain should never be given up on after one grow. Clone to get the maximum from your strain's genetics, look for that magic pheno then you have The Candy Store and the most potent Jack in the world - for the rest of your life.

Jillybean - Subcool

by Callisto

Silver Surfer

.

Spectrum of Effects

1. Onset: fast effect or creeper. creeper 1 2 3 4 5 fast

3.5 – I’m fairly new to vaporizing, and these better strains. If 1 is smoking a joint with whatever I’ve been buying, I’d go with 3.5. After a few hauls on the machine (Castilo's 'Machine' is a Silver Surfer I gave to him because I couldn't make it work - Hobbes), I start to feel it, and am defiantly stoned after a few more. Maybe 20 minutes or so for maximum effect.

.

2. Up (stimulating) and Down (sedative)

Down. At first it’s an up, as I get the up talkative feeling while using the machine, but after a while that dies down into a nice relaxed. And after a while I get very sleepy.

Liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions:

It goes with inertia. If I’m cleaning the house or playing guitar I enjoy those thoroughly, but I’ve been finding that this really knocks me out after a while, so it’s very contusive to finding a nice movie to watch or reading a book.

Inspiring sociability and talkativeness:

Again, for the first little while I’ve very talkative with this, I like going out and being around people, am very relaxed and laid back. But being relaxed and laid back makes me want to eventually relax, and lay back.

Sedative and depressant effects:

Sedative yes, in a nice way. Depressant, no.

.

3. Head High / Body Stone
Energizing – at first
Motivating – at first
Couch lock - yes

.

4. Emotional State Caused
Anxiety - no
Euphoria – not especially. But certainly puts a smile on my face.
Calm – yes, very
paranoia - no

.

5. Body - medicinal effects
Nausea – not known
Pain / back – had a bad kink in my neck. Better than taking asprin
Seizures - not known

.

6. Head - medicinal effects
Depression -
Mania -
Anxiety –
Antisocial -
Anger –

Depression, anxiety, anger, I’ve got it all. This is very calming, helps me relax. Great for after a hard stressful day of work.

.

7. Ceiling: How high (of far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can be consumed until more hits are unnoticeable.

On the vaporizer I really only know if it’s working or not when I feel that I’m stoned. Once I do I usually will take a few more hits. After that I hit the plateau and don’t feel it being any more effective. Eventually I’ll go and hit the machine again, and will get the same strong sense of it working.

.

8. Potency: weak 1 2 3 4 5 strong

3.5 I guess. Heads and shoulders above what I used to smoke. But not as strong as Flo, Bubble Gum, Kali Mist etc I’ve tried. Of course, those are different types of high’s so it’s hard to compare.

.

9. Duration short 1 2 3 4 5 long

See question 7. the high plateau will last about an hour, but the effects will last for a few hours and I will feel very relaxed, stoned, and sleepy for the rest of the day.

.

10. Tolerance: ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. "Over time" means the long run: months, years, decades.

Only had this strain for 3 weeks, but just as effective every time.

.

11. Taste

I’ll get back to you on that one, need to go try it again….
Hmmm, hard to describe. Pleasant, different. I’m tempted to say kinda pine-oakish.

.
.
.

Note from Hobbes: I tend to take my trichs amber before harvesting, it could add to the sedative effects that Callisto is noticing. As well, the Candy Store pheno finished first and I consumed it before curing properly, this plant tasted nothing like The Candy Store plant. If the breeze from walking 10 feet away hits the Candy Store it will fill the whole room with blue jelly bean smell. The Candy Store smells better, tastes better, finishes faster, yields more and is more potent than the other two phenos I had - including this one Callisto reported on. Hard to beat the combination and it was the only pheno I kept for a genetic chain.

Pandora's Box - TGA Seeds

by Scareb

Volcano

.

Spectrum of Effects

1. Onset: fast effect or creeper. creeper 1 2 3 4 5 fast

I would rate it at a 4 because although it does come on fast, it isn't that overwhelming fuzzy feeling that some smokes give you.

2. Up (stimulating) and Down (sedative)

Liven the disposition and stimulate the emotions:

I find this smoke puts you in a tired state of mind without the fatigue, so no, it is not stimulating

Inspiring sociability and talkativeness:

Although it may release some tension, it does not make you more talkative, but you may be more comfortable sitting around with other laid back people

Sedative and depressant effects:

Depression is a relative term so i personally do not find this to be a depressing smoke, but it is very very sedative. The interesting thing that i have pointed out before, is that you get the same state of mind of being tired without feeling fatigued

3. Head High / Body Stone

Energizing: Not in the least

Motivating: sort of motivating. your not out going, but you want to keep busy

Couch lock: if you can find something mind numbingly simple to do with your hands while on the couch then you are set. something like a cross word or Sudoku puzzle would do the job for me

4. Emotional State Caused

Anxiety: i would say this smoke relieves anxiety

Euphoria: not really

Calm: definitely, although you are not going to be doing complex things

paranoia: a good medication for paranoia

5. Body - medicinal effects

Nausea: not for me but i wouldn't be surprised if it did for others

Pain: nope

Seizures: are you kidding?

Back: feels fine

6. Head - medicinal effects

Depression: doesn't bring you up but brings you to just about even

Mania: not that I have ever had that, but no.

Anxiety: helps

Antisocial: does not help at all

Anger: chills you out a good amount but doesn't make you happy

7. Ceiling: How high (of far) one is capable of going with the variety. How many hits can be consumed until more hits are unnoticeable:

Couldn't say.

8. Potency: weak 1 2 3 4 5 strong:

this is a 3 for potency. it is good but not over powering, and certainly not a knock out bud

9. Duration short 1 2 3 4 5 long:

about 45 minutes to an hour for a heavy smoker. not bad

10. Tolerance: ability to provide the same experience via the same amount over time – the burnout factor. "Over time" means the long run: months, years, decades.

too soon to tell

11. Taste:

No taste what so ever. maybe a bit musky, and definitely scratchy on the throat but that's it.
