Do your buds clump together in the jar or something thats making you do it 2xs a day?

I do once a day for about 20 mins for the 1st week.
Yes they do, think they are to wett but they feel crispy outside, should i put them in brown bags or let them in jars OPEN for 2 days?

Brown bag it for a day and re jar after that. Better to be safe than to be molded.

If they still clump after that you might need to break up the large buds to allow it to dry better.

I'll make an easy flow chart -

1. Hang buds to dry

* Do they taste great when smoked and emulate the type of smoke you like from top shelf buds with that nice cured smell? Then proceed to step 2.

* Do they feel damp inside, burn uneven and taste grass hay or like a fresh plant? Go back to stage 1 for another week.

2. Jar the buds

* Do they stay the same and smoke like top shelf after 24hours in a jar? Recheck tomorrow then leave sealed till you require then to smoke.

* Did they develop a hay grass smell or taste that wasn't there when you first jarred? If yes then go back to step 1, they weren't dried long enough.

You should achieve drying in around two weeks, I'm not talking the buds just being dried but dried and allowed to develop their bouquet. Saying drying is misleading, they need to be finished ready for smoking or market not just dry as in a low moisture content. Other processes happen after it dries and Futher moisture equalises out which takes longer. If you jar before this and simply think dry means dry then the jar will not be kind and you will get that hay taste horses love so much.

This is really helpful actually. So after 5-7 days of hanging drying the but is ok to smoke? I never knew this and will give it a try/ follow your method.

For some reason I can't like your post or I would.

I hang for 7-10 days and trim when dry. Buds feel crispy on the outside but still kind of spongy like crispy popcorn. At this stage you can almost finger bust but hopefully just a bit too sticky. Perfect to throw in a jar at this stage and leave the jar open 2-4 hours a day. Try to do it twice for the first 4 days then just once for the rest of the week. All buds are different sizes so this is general. But as long as the bud always feels like you can basically finger bust it when you burp the jars it's fine. If it feels like you need to rip and tare it up because it's damp, let it dry more before sealing in a jar so you don't get that grassy, hay, ammonia smell. Those little hygrometers you can buy 5 for 15-20 bucks on Amazon are key. Shoot for 62% and you're golden.
