Jar Storage Before Mold Begins?

Hello again,

After doing the curing method in jars...how long can you keep them in jars before they mold or etc? Do you still need to open the jars for air and if so, how often should you do this.

This is my first harvest...Duh...and I dont sell...so aside from started to smoke alot more, what are some ways to store my harvest without losing anything?

Thanks again,
Jon

You need to open the jars every day or so until they are throughly dried. Basically if you have any condensation build up in the jar, continue to open them daily and at some point they will get dry enough(crispy on the outside and softer but not moist on the inside). Once they are dried, you dont have to worry about mold.

thanks for the info. I also need to know how long can they stay in the glass jars before going bad? Is there a better way to store them, to keep as fresh as possible?

Yeah, you can put the jar in the fridge. Use small jars so you only expose a little to the air after they are finished curing and drying. Myself I would buy a vacuum sealer and suck the buds down into a rock hard knot. This method works great if you have a very large amount that you want to store (hide). I've stored pot for up to 2 years this way with no change in the quality and a definite improvement in taste. Foodsaver for 200 bucks is commercial quality and available at most big store chains or Cabela's, and it also vacuum seals jars.

I have had my cured widow is jars for a couple months now with no problem.

Just make sure they are dried before you leave them for long term storage.

The best way to store them is in a BudVac container. They come with a vacuum pump to pull all the air out for storing. www.budvac.com
