I hate to be that guy but I'll be using this a lot for journaling but I love to take pictures so I'll definitely share with you all  I have only ordered the seeds and am waiting to get going. This is my second grow. You can find my first grow and see I used CFLs. stepping up to a 250wHPS after much thought and debate with friends. (pondered LED for a little but gave up) Hopefully, I'll be adding a MH along with the HPS for flower down the road. As of now, Ill be vegging with CFLs . Ill add a UVB light in my 2x4x6 tent for 3 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week. Im sticking with Botanicare's Pro blend grow/bloom base nutes, as well as molasses, Snow Storm Ultra, Overdrive, Big Bud, and Piranha ( looking for another good rood additive as well). My medium will be FFOF/perlite (80/20). Im researching temperature solutions to keep them below 70 F. Im beyond excited to begin and continue learning about the humbling world of botany. Once it all comes in, the pics will begin. +rep to those who stop by, and respect to those who help out.

While cleaning my room, I stumbled upon some bagseed from the past couple months. I popped a couple in some paper towels and a few days later, here they are. not sure what they are or if I'll keep them. I was really just messing around but they're giving me something to do while I wait for shipping :blsmoke:

had a few babies growing and decided to toss them as they're vertical growth was veryyyy slow. I didnt make enough drainage holes in the solo cups I guess and the soil at the bottom was muddy while the soil on top was dry.. but its good that I did that and learned! seeds came in and the freebies were Pakistan Ryder (auto) and Yumbolt 47. Im pretty excited for the yumbolt but not so much the paki ryder..might toss that one outside lol. once I get some more stuff from HTG I should be up and running. ready to get this going... 8)

took forever for me to find some good 'ole FFOF but i finally got some and the girls are in their new temporary home. Sour kush (headband) showed a root within 24 hours while the jekyll passion and yumbolt 47 showed within 36 hours. Sour Kush is the first to show itself above the soil. Temps in the tent are ~80 for now but hopefully i'll be picking up a portable a/c before the day ends that will keep my room ~65F once the girls are in full swing vegetation. (~55F when the lights are off )

Im living the CFL life for a couple more days until the Mh gets here. some pictures for your 'viewing pleasure', like you all havent seen some soil in some red dixie cups before :hump: feels good to be back in it again :leaf::leaf::leaf:

So all seedlings are showing they're cotyledons but I felt that the soil in the cups was not drying out at all and staying very wet and cool. I decided to transplant them already into the same type of cup but with soil straight from the bag without any extra water. I was veryyy veryyy delicate with the roots and believe it was a success. the bottoms of the cups were like mud.. which sucks. therefore, I needed to do something about drainage so I cut the cups as shown. Also, i picked up that a/c unit which works just as I hoped it would. just need some ducting and my light to get here and i'll be in full swing.

as far as the soil right now, it feels a little dry but Im weary to water it right now. I think ill wait until the morning and see how they are...as its easier to recover from underwatering than overwatering (true?)

I use same cups but the 9 oz ones. Since I use coco I have 4 holes drilled at the bottom of my cups and I get good drainage but for the first 2 weeks u should not worry about drainage, cuz u do not want to over water them or your roots will rotten. I water my seedlings with a syringe.lol

haha the syringe is a good idea! if i had one lying around Id use it as well. but for now Im just using a tablespoon. i watered them once since i put them in drier soil and they got 2-3 tablespoons. i know im thinking wayyy too into it, and laugh at other guys who do the same thing, but oh well. had some trouble with my room and power and whatnot but I think i have it all sorted out now. i was really going to take some pictures, but I somehow lost motivation :leaf:bongsmilie:leaf:

I hope they like the new bright light!!!8)

The ladies are on a 18/6 light cycle and i think they like it alot more than 24/0. I just gave them a nice light watering after they woke up. im keeping temps above 80 still but will begin to turn it down next week once they all have a couple more sets of leaves and they're transplanted into the air pots.

I dont think I ever mentioned they're under 250wMH and have been for at least 10 days or so. oops. Im wondering if Im keeping the tent too cool (<75) so today ill do a little bit of experimenting without using the ac unit. hopefully it'll help the soil dry out a little quicker as it was veryyy moist coming out of the bag when I filled up the pots. but I read that the air pots dry the soil out quicker than normal pots anyway. here they are today in the air pots (2.4gal)

I was thinking that since they just got in some fresh FFOF soil that it'll be at least one more watering of just distilled water, maybe two. like i said the soil is kinda moist already so i dont think i'll be watering for a few days. Id say about week to 10 days they'll see some nutes.

so that experiment sucked! it got to 90 at one point in the day and I think it stayed around 88. Air circulation should have been enough, so it was just too damn hot in there. Sour kush had some bad heat stress on a leaf but i gave them cold air for a good 6 hours. Does changing the temp from 90 to 70 within an hour shock them at all? they're looking better this morning. trying another method without the ac unit. temps are at 79 right now

thanks benzi. my friend and I sat down for while and picked the right strains for what we want. some variety for sure, some that are easier to grow, and some that will really make me work hard. but in the end it'll all be worth it.

pics from today. I still havent watered since I put them in these pots which I believe was 5 days ago. They still look great but I think the time is definitely coming. Sour Kush looks a little nitrogen deficient so I might put half a teaspoon of nutes in its water when I feed them. Jekyll is short and a little disappointing but Ive read a lot of places that plants that start out small can grow up and be bigger than everything else its growing with. time will tell. I stumbled upon a post from legallyflying that made me want the temps around 78-79 for early veg and to try and keep the lights-off temperature within 3 or 4 degrees of the lights on temp so I'm being more aware of that the past few days.

Looking great! You want to watch your high and low temps, I try to keep mine around 77-80 with the lights on and no more then 10degrees less when off. Keeping it steady is the way to go, Your roots are exploding right now so just keep doing what your doing and let them dry out in between waterings! You will see them explode soon under that MH! I used an MH to veg my girls and they love it, my big girl in 5 gallons is only like 7 weeks old and should produce no less than 5 oz's :) I usef cfl's aswell and they get the job done but you cant compare them to the HID's for a reason!! Anyway I'm subbed.
