I stumbled upon your grow by a comment you made on an attic grow, air-conditioning forum. I was looking for the instructions on the homemade ac unit you pulled off the DIY. I'm glad I stopped by because you are one of the better growers I have seen on RIU. Your plants look immaculate. I like the fact that you make your own mix and don't just trust some soil company to get it right and that's why your buds always look so healthy.. I use many of the same ingredients such as mycorrhizae, guano, and peat, but also add AZOMITE which I have come to love. I am definitely subbed and will be following any future endeavors. Definitely one of top growers on this site. I would like a link to that ac info though. FH
Thanks for the kind words. I use azomite in my mix as well these days, along with kelp meal, alfalfa meal, and a few other things.

As for the DIY A/C...that was a long while back and I'm not sure exactly where I got the info. I can tell you that it ended up being more of a hassle than it was really worth, and if you are located in the Southeast US (as your location indicates) I can tell you now just get the real deal. The one I used involved a cooler and ice packs, which helped a bit with the temp but also created an undesirable increase in humidity. A window or portable a/c is really the only way to grow effectively in the summer heat of the south.

Harvested the OG Kush this morning @ day 74 12/12.

Also had the Cali Connect Sour Diesel #1 out for its bi-daily watering so I snapped a few pics. This is day 49 of 12/12.

I can tell you now the Cali Connect Sour Diesel is definitely legit. Both phenotypes I've got going now look and smell amazing. They absolutely blow the Reserva Privada Sour Diesels away in those categories. RP#6 is probably the best out of the those...definitely has the Sour smell and showing decent trichome development. RP#3 is the most frosted but is a funky/wonky grower...buds are kinds stringy or foxtailed but also smells of Sour D. RP#1 and #2 have no smell or frost at all...I have literally taken a bud, bent it in half and stuck my nose in the middle and couldn't smell anything. Sometimes I think I get an earthy/chocolatey hint, but even then it's only fleeting (if it was ever there at all). The yields of all 4 look to be solid for being in 1.9 gallon containers...

By contrast, the Cali Connect Sour D are both very frosted and very stinky. CCSD #1 is going to be a monster yielder, while the #4 looks to be slightly above-average. The sample size is pretty small, and I haven't smoked either, but so far the CC are visibly superior to the RP. I have yet to be disappointed by any Cali Connection strain/phenotype I've grown. You could undoubtedly find a nice pheno with just a few pick and mix, but I recommend a 10-pack if you are searching for the best the strain has to offer.

As for the smart pots, I'm pleased so far. The handles make them easy enough to move around (even though my diy handles aren't exactly opposite each other), and watering hasn't been a problem. It's not quite as easy to tie them down as when they are in the plastic pots, but I can work around it with paperclips and punching holes through the fabric.

I've already had some roots penetrate the fabric and then brown off the next day, so I guess they're doing what they're supposed to. I wish I had vegged them in the large pots for at least a few days to see what they can really do, but I will DEFINITELY get more for my future grows!
Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and do it, I always go with 10 packs at least. Gotta find that pheno...
Good luck with the Smart Pots, I'm hooked.

Pollinated both Grape Stomper x OG with pollen from the male GSxOG and the male Sour Hazy Jones. I also hit the Deadhead female with pollen from both GSxOG and SHJ. The GSxOG male EXPLODED with pollen, but the SHJ didn't have quite as much ready (enough for my purposes though).

Whenever I decide to restart the operation (after I move in the fall) I'll start up with only seeds I made myself--Sour OG #3 and #4 x Sour OG, Tahoe OG #3 x Sour OG, Space Queen x Querkle, Querkle x Querkle, Sharksbreath x Querkle, CCSD x RPSD, (GSxOG) x (GSxOG), (GSxOG) x SHJ, Deadhead x (GSxOG), and Deadhead x SHJ.

Can't wait to see how the offspring compare to the parents.

Unrelated note: Accidentally broke off a top bud of the RPSD #6 a few days ago. After trimming and drying for a couple days, I'm very pleased with the aroma and taste. I still believe she will be the best of the 4 RPSD. #6 and #3 will be harvested within the week, while #1 and #2 still have a little finishing off to do--they are starting to produce a slight Sour D odor now and the trichomes are beginning to "pop" a bit more, so maybe they are just slower growers than the other 2, and that's why I haven't detected much smell from them yet. The Cali Connect Sour D are still better in my early opinion.

Welp, I ordered the Cali Connection SD and am getting 10 Jedi Kush seeds as a freebie. I'm wondering (so far anyway) how you would rate the CC SD compared to the Tahoe OG. I'm thinking about trying the Tahoe next, maybe I'll order that when they start their next promo.

You know anything about the Jedi Kush? Could it be Skywalker OG x SFVOG? Can't seem to find anything about it.

Well the yield looks to be better on the CCSD compared with the Tahoe. Other than that...it's too early to really judge. My Tahoe #3 was the most trichome-laden plant I've grown to date. It's a VERY potent knock you in the forehead stoney high, great taste, easy to grow. Tahoe #2, though less crystally and a terrible yielder is still my favorite smoke. Sweet sugary kush is the only way to describe it.

CC Sour D grows very solid, nice trichome coverage, excellent smell, not exceptionally hungry or nutrient-sensitive...so it's well on its way to becoming great as well (I definitely think you made the right choice with Cali Connect Sour D over the Reserva Privada...though I feel I will be pleasantly surprised by a couple of the RPSD as they dry/cure).

I can with confidence recommend the Tahoe to the same degree I recommended the Sour D.

On the Jedi Kush; it is deathstar crossed with the sfv, that was confirmed by Swerve over on the WT site. I really can't wait to try it, and I almost placed the order for the tahoe just so I could get two free packs of Jedi. I will definitely be ordering the tahoe, but maybe next week. Thanks for the info Jerry.

Here are the 4 Reserva Privada Sour Diesel. #6 and #3 are ready for harvest in the next day or so. #2 is slowly developing a faint skunky/earthy smell, nothing like the strong sour fuel smell of #6 and #3. #1 still smells like nothing...highly disappointing. Looks like it will yield strongly, but potency, taste and overall quality appear quite poor.

Actually, #1 reminds me a lot of my shitty Super Lemon Haze I grew a while back. Had virtually no scent while growing, tasted horrible, but was a solid yielder. What is really similar though, the pistils just slough off once they turn red/brown. I snipped a branch off #1 a couple days and sure enough it's even worse when dry. I absolutely HATED that SLH plant, and I already know I will hate #1, and maybe #2. #6 and #3 aren't like that at all though. They will both be quality Sour D, even though they grew a little weird.

RPSD #6. Day 79 12/12. Nice Sour Diesel smell and taste. Probably the best of the lot.

RPSD #3. Day 79 12/12. Right up there with #6 in terms of quality (strong Sour smell, adequate frosting), though the yield leaves a bit to be desired. This one was a bit more sensitive to nutes than the others, and was a weird grower all they way through. I'm going to vaporize a bag of it with a bud I cut a few days ago once I finish this post to get a better idea how it resembles #6.

RPSD #2. Day 79 12/12. Mediocre at best, though has shown slight improvement in the last week. Experiencing a similar "pistil drop" to #1 as discussed above.

RPSD #1. Day 79 12/12. Looks good, especially considering all the smack I talk about it, right? My how looks can deceive...

Group: #6, #3, #2, #1 (L to R).

For a bit of comparison, here is my Cali Connect Sour Diesel #4, Day 54 12/12.

Quite the contrast, right? I didn't pull out the CCSD #1 for pics as I just posted some a couple days ago. Here is everyone else in the tent.

CCSD #1. Day 54 of 12/12. Smell is outstanding, yield is very strong, potency looks to be high. I love both of these Cali Connect girls.

Left to Right: Grape Stomper x OG #1, Deadhead OG, Grape Stomper x OG #2. All 19 days into 12/12.

Finally, Sharksbreath, Day 54 of 12/12.

CC's SD looks to be the better of the 2 then mate, imo cali connects has more of the real sour than RP's version who I rekon just put the SD name to a strain that is only slieghtly SD to cash in they've gone more commercial now too.... RP's SD is ~ (91 Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL) and CC's OSD is their [FONT=&quot] Sour Og male X Original Sour Diesel clone (AJ cut)

This article is a bit dated (2006) but I don't think the info has changed much. http://www.cannabisculture.com/v2/articles/4651.html

The RP (91 Chem x Mass Super Skunk/NL) is supposedly the original Sour Diesel, but it seems highly unlikely that RP/DNA could acquire both the original '91 Chem AND the Mass Super Skunk x NL to produce seeds. Seems like a sales pitch (similar to their "Headband" that isn't really headband) though I would be interested to find out who the parents actually are. Maybe just a male and female Sour D crossed? I really don't know. All I want is that sour taste that lingers in your mouth long after the exhale (as described in the article), and that will take a few weeks of cure to identify. I totally agree with the author that I would probably smoke Sour Diesel even if it didn't have any THC because I like the taste so much. Taste is VERY important to me...

While the CC look and smell much more like ECSD, I can definitely detect a hint of the OG in them from the Sour OG father. I'm sure some phenos will be closer to the Original Sour D clone and some will take after the Sour OG, but I feel this strain has a much better chance of producing that unmistakeable taste I'm searching for.

DNA probably just tried to make their own from different parent line plants to the "real" ECSD parent line. idk though I haven't had any SD so can't really say, I just knew that CC used the AJ cut, but yeah there will be some more OG leaning phenos cos of the Sour OG used. RP/DNA are also releasing a ChemDawg in seed form too soon. Another cash in on a popular cali brand name me thinks with like their Headband as you already said lol
I went with sour hazy jones, looking for something with a sour kick myself and that cross sounds tasty from the strains used to breed her. I want to try the SSSDH from CSG too at some point to see what all the fuss is about with that, I've read good things mate.

there is lots of shit out here but in my opinion you can call anything sour di - but true sour di has to give off the fuely smell to be true -others not necesserly prepertating a fraud-maybe a off beat pheno -can still be good bud -just not the what i call true sour di

the way things go today anything can be anything for instance all the diff headbands - name can not be the deciding factor in judgment
