i don't think stern was ever a pro psychedelics guy.. from memory, i think he took lsd or shrooms like once, and pretty much lost his shit..

Anyone doing research with drugs like that has to be very careful about discussing use. If they admit to it then they're seen as zealots or crackpots by nonusers and if they say they haven't they lose credibility with users. So most answer the question with a question. I know Nichols said it was never brought up in his lab.
