Joey weed C99 x A11 breeding & strain shootout thread

as i grabbed some of maybe the last cinderella apollo beans as JW isn't selling either anymore, i've decided i want to test that and preserve it asap because it the best high i've tried that can be done in the 50 day range to get something good as soon as i can start growing again. i expect to like it's mellower & trippier buzz more than too racy to sit still on cindy. it might not be as fun a ride as 8 miles high, but most of the best buzzes are closer to 70 days strains, but crossing speedy C with them should speed them up a bit in at least flowering time if not buzz too.

if you like getting high, and want some lowdown & comparison on strains, i plan on breeding the cindy apollo to a wide range of strains from lowryders through back crosses with pure C99 x whatever all the way up to 12 week strains like high quality seed's haze skunk. keeping mothers for cuttings is just too much hassle and besides, gear grown from seed is healthier according to someone whose looked at my 1st grow and cash cropping rooms.

my ultimate goal is to try and get something with the special trippy and sensual light floaty buzz of columbian gold and if i can work in some nice tasty flavor, all the better and have it as indoor friendly as possible and with absolutely no couchlock, but not racy either. i think that this cross with 75% real gold might be it, but there's other nice gear with different personalities.

these are the crosses i'm planning or considering, but will probably cut anything that gets skunky down immediately.

i KNOW there's going to be at least a couple strains in there i really like besides the 8 miles high, super cali haze & haze skunk i already know i like and bred. i'm most excited to try the columbian gold and see if it's as afghani polluted as skunk #1 is or if it has more of that best high ever quality. haze skunk is very potent & long lasting & even psychoactive, but doesn't have the same kind of sensual high i've gotten more out of 8 miles high & even offensive tasting tuck stop oil slick diesel based onyx.

i didn't realize i had so many strains i want to use. maybe if i had 2 plants versus half that on my first grow that i flowered to early at that, i'd have enough bud not to run out super fast 7 be able to focus on the best of the best.

if anyone has experience with any of the strains or breeders i'm wanting to use, share your two cents. smoke reports in particular for any of these strains would be helpful. it's too bad so many of these strains aren't really sea of green types.it'd be nice to do a compact grow with them and there's probably too many IBL leaning types to fit under 2 x 400w.

right, but joey's dropped C99 and A11. maybe he's just keeping the cross now, but i bought mine just to be safe. in the past, whenever hemp depot was out of C99, they'd just put an Out of Stock sign on it in the price list and it never stayed out of stock more than a couple months and it's not only been half a year or more by now since the two strains were listed separately, but the info for both has been removed by hemp depot too. i hope they at least keep apollo cindy as i don't remember seeing anyone selling apollo 11 beans for years and the A11g vietnamese crosses i bought when spice brothers' gear started disappearing might have been the last on that.

i liked JW's grapey C99s. they contrast the pineapple phenos and would have been perfect for haze breeding. i still have a bunch of back crossed beans, but so far haven't gotten any to pop. i'll try the sandpaper scrape tech one last time to see if i've preserved that strain or even better get some interesting new phenos.

I would be very unhappy if infact Joey Weed was throwing in the towel. I too have noticed the lack of movement in Joeys area of HD. I am a Huge fan of his AK99 and think it is about as perfect a plant as one could get. I have some AK99f2's as well as some AK99 x (C99 x A11) (Joeys too) that I am going to pop and see what's in store. Before I believe what could be true about JW I will wait it out and see. Maybe drop Brad an email at HD and see if he knows anything.

in the past, whenever JW ran out of C99, hemp depot continued listing it with a red "out of stock" note in their price list and it ALWAYS came back after just a couple months. it's been over half a year since cindy and apollo were each in stock AND neither one has a listing or a price anymore.

the AK47 x C99 you love should still be around as THAT strain is just showing out of stock. it could be that JW's gear was just getting to old, or that something happened and he lost it. i'd love to see it back in stock as his grapey C99 & slow flowering IBL leaning really grapey super cali haze is a natural cross where each strain can improve something on the other with complimentary flavors.

i've seen C99 go out of stock a bunch of times and it was never pulled from product descriptions or the price list. i just don't think it's coming back.

Sad to see those go. JW C99 and A11 were 2 of my favorites and AK99 was great and huge plants too. I'm tempted by the f3 c99 at HD.

there are several breeders doing C99, at least, now. mosca has one bred for the "potent pineapple" pheno that's supposed to be trippy, female seeds has one i'm not sure if i heard was just OK or not and definitely heard nirvana's one is not so hot.

as to the breeding, i'm pretty sure i'm going to scale it back and save my last kali mist bean (hottie) for another grow as it's probably the newer fruity & spicy version as i bought it around '05 and not the really hot crushed red pepper original. it's too bad it'll probably be a year before i can test any of it. the one i expect to be the best cross out of the gear i KNOW 1st hand there would be cuntfart. HQS' haze skunk is super potent and the trippiest thing i've smoked so far after columbian gold. i'd expect the 8 miles high cross to be more on the mellow & happy side, but have high hopes (pun intended) for Rokerij Seeds Amnezia Haze as i think i'll get some of that. it's a 50:50 cross, but super silver haze is trippier than skunk #1 although the couchlock levels might be similar, but cambodian should be trippier than haze too i think. i managed to stumble on that strain by changing my keyword searches at attitude & looking for cambodian.

were it not for their violent names, i'd grow TGA subcool's jack the ripper & sannies' killing fields as both sound like top quality "indoor hazes"

I have been growing A11 for a few years now. Made my own beans when i first got the original packs from Joey. Now im down to 25 and they aren't germing very well. Looks like im gonna have to hurry up and make some more. Apollo is an excellent strain. Even after all these years..
