I DONT THINK THIS A PROBLEM ..........
well i don't think that the red stems are a sign of anything i jus want to kno the reason plants would do this like the cause ya kno ....8-)
ive heard that MG soil does this .... which im using

what im asking is there a chemical that causes this?

ive heard low temps cause plants to be "cold" and turn purplish red also?

the temps on these plants are 77 off 86 on

Pending your strain it could be genetics.....IF NOT its a def. for sure...i have always had some stems purple up on me but never lost a plant or a leaf because of it

well the strain is called "popcorn" and i cant find much on it due to it being a relatively new( been around for less than 10 years) regional strain ive only found bout three others on here thats growing it and on a few sites ive found less than 100 people thats heard of it so idk if it turns or not...... im not to worried that its anything serious but i heard phosphorus def. can cause this am i rite?

Yeah, it's usually genetic, and often regarded a sign of superior quality.
really hmmm thatd be really cool if it is of good quality one of the other guys growing it said he found a seed in his medical so maybe it is ,

My stems look exactly like yours, with the purple striping running up and down. My plants were started in a soilless mix, transplated to soil, but not MG soil.

Edit: my seeds came out of a bag of some pretty decent indica doms. Got lucky and one little bud was full of seeds, only seeds in the whole bag.

never heard of MG causing this, gonna go with genetics

if you could pull it up id like to see where you read MG causes redness, just because ive been defending MG if its used right. id also like to hear a smoke report from your MG grow because people bash the flavor of MG soil grown, but i think its the taste of pre harvested, quick dried bud they bitch about

DJ short's blue moonshine has identical coloration. It's genetics and good ones.

from what i understand during photosynthesis when energy is produced from the leaves to the rest of the plant its showing production. it could be genetics. i think its a hurried transfer from leaves to buds and i beleive its a sign of thc production. (i did a lil research on it a few months back and thats the closest to an answer i could find. did the stems to the leaves turn purple after buds popped up? if it showed up after buds showed its transfer. if its a "purple" strain it would be purple the whole plants life. as far as i know its not a defficiency'

from the brothers grunt post this led me to believe that MG causes this with no adverse affects known but hey i could be misinterpreting it
Whats up Pappy. We use MG soil all the time with great results. I wouldn't worry about the red stems as we get them on some of our plants. One thing you have to be very careful about is using nutes with MG soil. You have to give them very small doses. In our case we use Fox Farm Big Bloom about 3 weeks into flower. The bottle says add 4 TLB. per gallon of water we add 1/4 TSP. per gallon of water.

Right now we are doing an experiment with 5 clones using MG soil. These 5 clones are now 5 weeks into flower and have not received any nutes what so ever during the grow. Just MG soil and good old water and these babies are rocking.

your plant might need phosphorus

ive read those time and time again and jus so you kno it says purpling of the petioles ( fan leaf stems ) can occur not that it starts this way nitrogen def starts when slight yellowing on lower leaves and growth is slowed

i was leanig to phospouhrus def but now im gonna hope the others are rite and call it genetics LOL

if its a deficiency you will know it...the plant will react to it....IF you are still flourishing and growing dont worry
