Just a few questions from a newbie.

hello. I've got a few questions i hope someone can answer about my plants.

I've got them on a 24/0 schedule. I was wondering how much quicker this usually takes than other light cycles?

Also when its time to harvest, i've heard turning the lights off for 2-3 days will increase yield and potency. True/False?

alright man thanks. im only 2 weeks in so its gonna be a while. but dont you think the extra 6 hours of light will make it grow that much more?

thanks.

ok heres the deal..... With the lights being on 24 that means all the plant is doing is turning light into food. Now for a plant to be healthy and have a high yeild it needs strong roots...Follow?? OK so when the plant gets time to "rest" during lights out or when the sun goes down it helps stimulate root growth.... By giving the plant a dark period and letting them have good root growth it actually helps them grow faster.... I tested the theory the plants with a dark period grew faster and stronger.... good luck bro

I personaly consider 24 hour of light a waste of money for the electricity. I have never seen proof of any gain from this either.I also wouldn't try the 3 days of dark either, never tried it but sounds like putting that kind of stress on a healthy plant is counter productive considering just cutting the lights back period can stress your plants. Now stressing some at the end of flowering may help increase potency, I've never tried. I'm more than happy with the potency of my buds. I've found that most shortcut solutions are damaging at best. Be patient and learn thewcraft and you will be amazed at what these plants will give you.

Everybody does their own thing but 20/4 will give you the greatest balance I firmly believe.

LOL....The beauty of the Outdoor Grow.......NO goddamned light schedules.....Nature doing it's thing, the way it should be.....BB

well im currently testing something out, im an outdoor grower, but i was going to try to grow them inside until they got big enough to survive outside. I was also going to slow the time down to the normal nature time before i put them outside.

Hi Steve, I do something like that for my outdoor grow. I start them under lights for 3 weeks prior to the ideal outdoor start time, which for me is May 1. This always seems to be a smooth transition for my girls. However, you didn't indicate just how old or how far they ate into veg. If they are TOO far along in their indoor life, throwing them OUTdoors could cause some stress issues.
Good luck & good grow......BB

yo I didn't know where to ask but I have a plant about 2.5 weeks old under cfls. It's a healthy bushy lookin one so far. Ok so I got it on 18/6, the big light has a 3 prong cord and won't plug into my timer, i've been able to turn it off manually each day. the fans and other light are on the timer. I have to go on a trip for 3days, so could I leave the lights on all that time without causing stress?
Also, if i went 12/12 and got it flowering and put it outside soon would it continue to flower this early in summer? I'm in michigan btw

Well, the best thing i could tell you if your leaving for 3 days, if you have the amount of time increase it from 18/6 to maybe 20/4 then 22/2 and then finally 24/0 so it can slowly adjust to the light.

I planted these around april 28-30th. they sprouted around may 3rd and now are a week and a half old, with the tallest one being about 3-4 inches.

OK Dank Smoker, First, I would get to the Walmart and pick up one of those $1.25, 3 prong to 2 prong adapters, thats seems to be good way to get your lights/fans fully automatic, and not have to manualy turn them off and on, or worry about leaving for a few days. Regarding the transfer to outside, just do it, without going to 12/12,You DON'T want them in flower NOW, it's May 13th, the days are getting LONGER for the next 5 weeks. Good luck & good grow.......BB

Then you are right on track Steve. I've gone as long as 4 weeks before throwing them outside. The indoor headstart gives you a nice extended veg period. More veg time = more well developed budding sites. Good luck & good grow.......BB

Thanks for the help Burger.

This sunday will be the 3rd week of growing.

The only problem with putting them outside, is it gets dark around 7:30 here, and sun comes back up around 6:30. 13/11 just doesnt seem right for growing..

I understand how this would SEEM wrong, but after a few days of the NATURAL light regimen, your girls will fall right into line and enjoy a full veg/flower cycle till harvest. Good luck & good grow.......BB
