I was just wondering how plants respond to 400w HPS bulb for veg. I understand MH is the way th.e way to go for veg but I only have a 400w HPS bulb right now. Its a good one. Lumatek 400w 60000lm.
Right now they are under only 12000lm flourecents but theyre are veg specific bulbs.
so should i leave them under flourecent for veg and once I drop to 12/12 then put them under HPS?
thanx for any input.

you can veg. with either MH or HPS.

MH will keep them shorter and more compact.

keep them under the lights you have now until they are big enough that the lights will not penetrate down far enough. then switch over to the HPS to finish your veg. and go into flower when your ready.

If you can control the heat, you can veg them under the hps, might be better than your flos.

HID lighting will always get you better results over floro's, IMO... Vegging under an HPS is no big deal... your node spacing might be a little larger than if you used an MH bulb, but you won't have any issues vegging under HPS

With an HPS throughout veg your plants will end up taller, and your lower budsites will give you lots of popcorn bud. I'd recommend training them well to maximize the amount of light they get to avoid unmanageable plants.
