It is a enclosed balasast system. I have a 150 that I've had for at least 13 years that still works great.

It is an enclosed ballast system. It comes with everything except the optional glass. The whole reason I like this is the enclosed ballast, less crap on the floor of my closet!

The ballast is attached at the top, nothing on my closet floor. Even came with both types of bulbs an 18" batwing. This thing is crazy nice.

Why would I want a switchable light??? I have separate veg and flower areas and both sets of lights will always be in use. I may eventually switch to MH for veg, but right now I am upgrading my whole grow closet and that is way down on my list! CFLs are fine for veg for now. I would rather spend the money on a carbon filter or CO2. JMO.

Don't bother with the MH for vegging. I've moved mine into the flower room and now just use T-5's for vegging. 225w of T-5 (2-TEK-2 PL-L 55w from HTG), just flat blew my 400w MH right out for veg. ~1/2 the wattage and way less heat.

I didn't understand that you had 2 different grow areas, I just assumed you were growing in one room.
