Just bought a 400w hps oh yeah!!

Hey guys I just had to post on here that I just moved up from cfls to the big leagues heeheh. I have been using two 65w cfls with two 23w cfls for a plant and getting about an oz everytime off of mexican brick weed seeds hehe. Today I went to my local hydro store and bought the sun systems yeild master II classic 6 inch air cooled hood, and the 400w switchable ballast the harvest 10 I believe. The whole setup was only 250 out the door those guys rock!!! I cannot wait to see the difference between the cfls and this bad boy. I also just got ten white widow seeds from nirvana oh yes time to grow some decent bud I just wanted to thank everyone on here for helping me grow, I read this forum everyday but really never post, maybe now ill get to upload some bud porn heheh thanks everyone!!!

Great deal! What kind of bulb did you get? Probably will need a compatible fan to cool that bad boy.

They gave me an Ultra Sun bulb I dont know if those are good though hehe I know its bright as hell lol.

Congrats. I recently just upgraded to HPS too, so I know how you feel! I'm sure you're even more excited though. I upgraded from 400w MH to 400w HPS. Still feels good though. And my plants that are 8 weeks into budding are already showing a difference after just 5 days! I can't believe it. Can't wait for a plant to go a full cycle of flowering under my new pride and joy ^_^

Hey how was those buds from the brick weed still schwag or a lil better cuz you took care of them. I always wonder if you grow schwag seeds from mexi brick weed will it come out a lil better cuz you took care of it a lil better

Yea definately better than the brick form heheh, everyone that has smoked it so far says its "perfect" you dont get too high and your just mellow and relaxed and really hungry let me tell you lol.

Ya baby! I, too, have recently upgraded from a 400W MH to HPS. Incredible difference. You'll see an improvement from your CFLs, no question! Exciting, isn't it?

All I can tell you is WATCH OUT! I just upgraded to a 400w myself (was using near 600w of cfls) and the HPS causes your plants to grow exponentially faster. Using CFLs for my first two grows got me used to small plants, but within 3 weeks of vegging with an HPS I had to flip to 12/12 cause the plants were so freaking big. Fan leaves way bigger than my hands, something I rarely (if ever) saw from my CFL-grown plants.

Also beware of burning your plants when they're little. I personally have been going the HPS + CFL (6500k) route, and the results are beyond what I'd ever imagine

I can't compare results yet with flowering, but I'm assuming that there will be a significant improvement with my HPS over the CFLs.

no doubt man....only downfall is your friends wont say "you dont get too high" lol i grow nirvana ww under 400w hps... better brace yourself lol

Yeah im hoping the widow will make people "too high" lol I think the cfls are good for vegging and for learning how to basically go through the process of growing and then when you got that down kick it up a notch lol. I kept the 400 last night about 18" from the top of the plants and it stayed cool in there im wondering if that was too high or should I lower it some might have to experiment tonight with different heights.

Now what type of fan are you gonna get. I recommend at least a 300-400+ cfm fan. That will allow you to have a closed loop cooling system for your light. Unless you're growing where heat isn't an issue.

My house is actually kinda freezing right now luckily heheeh, but in the summer im sure it will get hot, I live in central california so its not that bad right now. I would get a fan and everything but I live in an old house and the wiring here scares me I might try to wire in a brand new box just for this light lol.
