10! LOL, Love that slobber! When you read about a dog breeds mantracking ability, proponents of GSDs and Belgians say their breeds are just as good as a Bloodhounds. I've gone to mantrailing exhibitions and certifications and Bloodhounds can track cold trails better than them all. Many LE depts have to have "all purpose" search/track/catch dogs usually due to their expense hence the GSDs and others. Bloodhounds are big, lovable sloppy, galoots who are just unstoppable when on the track. They might lick their prey to death when they find them! If my kid was lost, gimme a Bloodhound.

@GreatwhiteNorth did you get a new pup that I missed?

A good tracking bloodhound can find a sunken body or follow a track up to 300 hours old and have even been known to track a car someone has gotten into just by the scent trail on the road.

Not too long ago a teen ran away into the woods at night & he tracked him for the police - after some time the dog just sat down and refused to go on for no real reason. The next morning they took up the track again w/ the same results & found the kid hanging in a tree above where the dog stopped. : (

BTW, no new pup - we have a (Big mouth) Beagle and a French Bulldog.
