The problem is its 120 volts so when I plug it up it just makes this buzzing noise. How do I get it to work? :!:I'd like to grow in a party cup for my first indoor grow to get the hang of it. 12/12 right from the start.

I'm a noob myself, but doesn't 12/12 from start stress the plant? Just what i've read :\. I use 20/4 but 18/6 works aswell.

Well I live in Texas, maybe 2 an a half hours from Dallas. I Plug my light in as said and all it does it buzz, no light. Like I said. I hear I need to buy something to stick into the wall to make it work with the voltage.
Atleast I think its 120 volts. Could be a lil more. I hear I need a voltage converter.

My bad computer screwed up for a bit and posted it twice.Yes the light has a switchable ballast built in it. Also whats wrong with the party cup idea? I can still grow it in a small pot though. Sounds good to me. Make it a quick finisher.

Pictures would be really helpful about now...

120v is standard american, three-prong outlet. Should work...

1) make sure you ballest is on the correct setting (IE HPS for HPS bulb or MH for MH bulb)
2) check the bulbs
3) check the starter

when things go wrong just stop and think about it...an understanding of how the light works would be helpfull

Sounds like something is faulty. If the plug fits it should work - pretty hard to plug a 120 into a 220.
