Just installed new RO system, need help, drain line question

Hi, I just installed my Reverse Osmosis system and I ran my drain line out a hole in my basement wall, well the drain line is constantly running. There is a water shut off valve leading to the drain, I can open the valve and the water shoots out even faster. When it is closed, water still drains a steady line. Is it supposed to always be draining or is something wrong with mine? Isn't the point to save money on buying distilled water? Need some help, thanks guys.

I guess the main question I am asking is does anyone's RO system constantly flow water out the drain tube?

No mine does not.

While the R.O machine is running waste water continuously flows but when the machine is off the flow should stop.
