How do you get any kind of yield like that? I mean, I switched to fem seeds for the most part because I was spending a lot of time and electricity on plants that would eventually turn male and it made me sick. But if one starts 12/12 from seed you have no veg period?

Your veg period is until it shows sex usually from 4-6 weeks some sativas longer. Some sativa dom and landrace this is the only way to keep a plant manageable to height restrictions when grown indoors. If you need more plant after she shows sex up your lights to 16/8 until you are at the height you want for flower. Saves work and electric, seriously there isn't an easier or quicker method to sex.

you would be surprised some of the skunk strains stretch like crazy they bud fast and finish fast
although when you grow them 12/12 from start they do not show buds until they have grown for a few weeks
some plants can still get 2ft tall or more during this time
haze plants can get even bigger
