Just looking for feedback

This is my 40 day old Island sweet skunk plant, from seed. Grown under 4 26W cfls, started at 24/0, then to 18/6, 16/8, 14/10, and now it has been on 12/12 for 4 days. As soon as I can tell the sex, I am planning on vegging longer. I have trimmed off a couple sets of big leaves to allow more light to the newer, lower leaves.

I am not sure if I made the cuts right when I removed the leaves, but the baby has shown no signs of distress and the new growth looks good, so I assumed it was alright.

At this point in the grow, is it unwise to be on 12/12?

Do I need to consider lst yet? or Topping?

Is it almost time to move to a bigger pot?

Does the plant seem happy and healthy?

Any improvements I can make?

Thanks for looking, and all feedback is much appreciated!

ive read somewhere that your not supposed to cut the fan leaves to expose the lower branches to light -- the plant needs the fan leaves because they're the chlorophyll power house (not too sure if thats true, but it sounds good, and has never done me wrong!)

ive had mad success with supercropping -- never tried topping.

its still a little small for my tastes to be in flower, but ive also never grown under cfls. but i think the plant itself would be ready -- once you see preflowers you can put it in flower. if you do it before preflowers, you run the risk of it being a herm (which i just learned...)

you shouldnt have touched the larger leaves unless they fell off, the only thing you should have trimmed is all the small under-growth that is not getting light anyways plus it benefits the plant by getting good air flow under the canopy, you just may go ahead and cut those small growths that are close to the dirt. how many liters/gallons is that pot? looks large enough to finish in, you can figure a gallon per foot, or a gallon per month the plant is going to be in there, 4ft plant needs a 4gallon pot

also before you even think of putting clippers to the plant again, wait a couple weeks so she grows a few more nodes and can withstand any shock

as for flowering, its up to you, the plant will double in size when flowered, so if height is a problem and your plant for example is 12inches tall, you can expect a 24in finished plant(indica) sativas go way larger...the plant will grow 1-3inches for the first 2-3 weeks of flowering.....if doing many small plants in a hurry you can flower when its short for faster turn around, vegging longer with less plants will get better yield per plant obviously, its all about the style you chose and space you are working with

i know this like the 90574357 post in this thread, but i dont think its a good idea to keep plaing with the light schedule, like 24 to 18 to 14, either 24hours or 18, then when u want to flower go straight to 12, no need to try and get it used to the changes, i have read that you can cause your plant to become a hermie if disturbing the shedule like that

So it is day 49, of which apr. a week and a half was spent on 12/12 lights, with 2700K bulbs. After I felt I had determined the sex of the plant (female!!!???) I put it back in the 6500 bulbs, and am switching back to 18/6.

Is this plant a lady or what?

Is it healthy looking?

Bigger pot yet?

She seems to be healthy and growing really fast for being under CFL's.
Thank you sir.
I have not been very rigid in my watering, and light schedule and all...im truly surprised it has thrived so well.
Cant believe its a female too!!! What did i do right, to deserve such a versatile and healthy plant?

boo ya

I just moved her into a bigger pot. She had been droopy the last two days and I thought it was time for a new pot. The entire pot of soil came up in the root ball, so there was no damage at all to the roots during the transfer.

The soil from the old pot is ffof. I didnt have any more of it for the transplant, so i used some organic choice MG. I mixed into the MG some small amounts of each of the following: Seabird guano, jamaican bat guano, happy frog fert, earthworm castings, kelp meal, perlite, vermiculite, bone meal, blood meal, and a touch of epsom salt.

I am slighlty worried that it was too many new nutes to introduce at once. We will see what happens there.
I am surprised to see her standing up so straight and happy looking already after the transplant. I expected it to be shocked for longer.

Also, i put in 3 times as many lights including a different spectrum now (a few 2700K bulbs)

Thoughts anyone?
any mistakes I am making?
Things I am doing well?
All thoughts are helpful and appreciated.
Thanks all!

I'm getting ready to start a grow, my 3rd I've done, and I cant afford to buy any good soil so I just picked up some MG organic choice as well. From what I have read, MG in general doesn't require nutes till at least a month in. My last grow I added some stuff at about one month and I got burned pretty bad. After flushing I eventually recovered, but that was also just normal MG potting soil, not organic choice. Honestly I'm not sure if the nutrients were required, I'm gonna let mine go without for now, its easier to slowly work them in than have to deal with nute burn and stunted growth. Keep me updated on how yours does, I will subscribe and check up now and then.:joint:
