No question. Cops hate it when citizens assert their rights because it frightens them. To the oppressors, submission to police authority should be blind and absolute.Many law enforcement officers will admit that refusing to consent to a search, even if you have nothing to hide, thows up a huge red flag and they will do anything they can at that point to manipulate their way in and try 10X harder to find something to bust you for.
I'd need to see a source to back up that claim.I would say if you are hiding something in your house, say no and get clean asap. Otherwise it may be a bad idea. Almost 100% of ppl that refuse consent in a vehicle are hiding something.
I am not hiding anything when I refuse consent; except perhaps my personal copy of the U.S. Constitution.
What I am doing is protecting my right against illegal search and seizure. Any copper who chooses to violate that right will have to deal with me and my attorney afterwards.
