Just want to make sure I'm doing everything right...

I just planted my white rhino seedlings in hydroton. I have a bubbler system with 3 net pots. I have a few questions just to make sure I'm doing everything right.

1. Do the nutes go directly into the basin?
2. How often should I feed the plants?
3. When I change the nutes out of the basin, should the entire basin be emptied?
3. Do the plants need water sprayed from the top even with the roots in the bubbler basin?
4. Is it a problem to have hydroton on top of the seedlings? Will they sprout through the rocks?
5. How long should it be until the plants noticeably sprout?

Sorry for all the newbie questions, and thank you ahead of time.:leaf:

EDIT: Also, is it okay for the roots to be in the basin? They are in the water pretty deep, I'm a little concerned that the current from the air stone will keep them from securing.

okay, will do, what is the reason for that? I had 3 lights in there, but it was getting too hot, the entire box is reflecting light, so I figured they would be okay up high

1. Yes
2. Not sure what you mean. They get fed constantly
3. I personally would only top off. Just need to change between veg to flower
4. Well I would start them in rock wool them place in hydroton
5. A few days to a week.

I want to make sure that you germinated these correct. You didnt just put beans in hydroton...right.? And the lights are too high, and you need more light also...alot more. Look into a 150 hps. Can be bought new for about $70. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks for your answers. What I mean by how often is how often should I pull old nutes out of the basin and put in new ones. Also, the basin should have some water in it correct? It cannot just be pure nute mix or that will burn the plants right? I germinated using the paper towel method. I have read that the seedlings can do fine being placed in the hydroton, so I figured that would be easier than messing with pHing the rockwool. I had a third light up there, but it was causing my temps to go up too high, should I put it back? I am very low on cash right now, so these lights will have to do for now.

NEVER just put nutes in the res by them selfs

one you will kill the plant in 2-3 waterings if that

two it would cost a lot of money in nutes to fill a res to working level

the nutes have a label on back that tells you how much nutes/gallon and you times that by how many gallons you are putting in the resv.

in yours i would put 2-3 gallons

what kind of nutes are you using?

go buy a ph drop tester its only about 10 bucks if that and test your tap water

mines about 5.5-6.0 so its perfect to hydrate the rockwool for seedlings

also no nutes are need with clones/seedlings, plain water is fine for a week or two(maybe pushing it

get 1 or 2 cpu fans for like 10 bucks each and wire them to a cell phone wall charger(there about 12v)(the white little cord is unimportant)and that keep your temps down with the other lights in there

I bought the grow case on ebay. It came with 6 little baggies of nutes, 3 G's and 3 F's, there are no directions on the nutes themselves, but the directions that came with the grow box said to put one baggie in a gallon of water. I did that, and it seems very diluted, but I still don't think I should put that mix in the basin without water. The basin won't even hold a full gallon, but I will still run out of nutes very quickly I think. I have a pH test/adjust kit, but I am using distilled water, so I only use it when i mix the nutes. There is a intake/exhaust fan setup in the grow box, and I also have a humidifier and a box fan outside the box helping keep temp/humidity in check.

Thanks, yea, I'll have to wait and see. white rhino is a bushier strain, I'm pretty sure I can yield about a 1/10 lb. per harvest, hopefully every month if I regenerate/clone.
