Kandy Kush Outdoor Help

Ok, I've gone back and forth and have decided to go with Kandy Kush from DNA Genetics over Vanilla Kush from Barney's Farm. Also have decided to grow outdoors instead of indoors...too nervous about someone smelling my plants. I have a problem though. I plan on purchasing a 55 gallon rain catcher for 6 plants and attaching a hose that'll descend to my plot. However I was wondering if anyone knew if there's a way to attach a timer to the hose and from the timer attach 6 little drip tubes for a drip system?? A timer is crucial though. I was also planning on buying water crystals and mixing that with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil to maintain moisture during dry periods (also with mulch at the top). Will buy lady bugs as well for pest control and a chicken wire fence from Lowes.

Really I just need to know about the rain catcher, timer and drip system and if there's a way to set up all three.

yeah you can get a hose timer....and then another hose and from that install your drip lines....like this

Thanks! I'm thinking now instead of dropping $100 or more on a rain catcher...it would be more cost efficient to just build one myself. I can get a 54 Gallon Rubbermaid container from Home Depot and use a knife to put a hole in the bottom and force in a 3/4 inch hose valve. From there, I'll use Gorilla Glue to seal the area around the valve and hole to make sure no water leaks.

From the timer, I'll just attach the irrigation hose main line and the necessary emitters. In my head it sounds like it could work lol. So for no more than $75 I should be able to set up my whole watering system. MUCH MUCH cheaper than spending $100+ on one component.

that rubbermaid will bend up if you fill it with water....
maybe a good garbage can?
use silicone not gorilla glue....should be fine...you might have to fix it once or twice...
drilling the hole could be hard if you don't have a hole saw...

how high are you going to put the res?

I'm in luck! I found a 50-55 gallon rain catcher on Craigslist for $25 lol. I'll just have to clean it out before I use it and probably spray paint it green...has the hose valve and all. My res location is on a small hill covered in trees about 10-15 ft. above my potential grow area. How are the Supernatural brands like Gro Terra? Also should I use Fox Farm for my seedlings in a cup before I transplant them into the groud? I've heard it can be too much for plants so young so I'm not sure what to use in the beginning.

the grow terra is definitly very concentrated, so be care. but yeah i use it on my babies. I just use like a pinch of it in a glass of water then feed. Less is more! The fox farm should be "okay" for you seedlings, make sure you got some good drainage in it, might want to mix a bit of perlite in.
