kc brains mango and friends...5 weeks

Got a couple mangos going right now (5), from K.C. brains. Could not resist, been wanting to try this seed for awhile. Been hearing mixed reviews on it, so I got about 16 of 'em, planted 6 (saved the other 10), got 1 hermie, and 5 females :-P. out of the 5 females I have 4 in 5 gal containers, and kept 1 in a 1 gal container. I am currently on week 5 and these things smell beautiful, ....except for one. could not figure out which plant was smelling like dirty socks, but everytime I was admiring the fragrance of the other ladies the smell would ruin it. Finally figured out it was the one in the 1 gal pot. Glad I kept that one small. but another one smells like a mix between fresh apples and grape soda. beautiful plant to, looks darker than the others but not sure if it will be a big producer or not. Although the one producing the biggest colas smells really good (not like the other one tho), and has the biggest buds in the room. So far even bigger buds than the NL x BigBud next to it. so those two I will keep my eyes on. the others are average yeilding and smell, nothing to write home about.

Also have a ny47, cheese, and the NLxBB plants going as well...Hoping they start impressing me soon.

Anyone else growing some mango?

(1st pic is the bigger yeilding mango, 2nd pic is the one who smells like a jock strap, and the last one is the fruity smelling one)

yeah same here! Honestly, I seen a writeup and photo shoot on mango years ago (like the 90's maybe) in a hightimes, and it looked amazing. I remembered it all that time and wanted to try it. These plants are stronger, healthier, and smell better than anything in the room as of right now. I'll let you know how it smokes in 3-5 weeks.

nice grow man. i didnt have much luck with kc brains. i got in on the plural of the mongoose deal a long time ago. grew out the white, brasil and NL special. all varieties were average at best.

grew this strain over a year ago, i had a keeper out of my 10 pack, smelled just like sweet mangoes, kc brains is cheap, but it pays off in the end if you get that keeper. i had something that smelled like a mango scratch and sniff sticker, i ended up giving it away when i grew vortex, which had a similar mango smell but much danker, if you like this mango you might like Somango from soma or vortex from tga.

oh i bet! the smaller of the two females I am watching has a real fruity smell, almost grape, and the bigger one I want to keep, has buds going purple on me. So its really just a roll of the dice with genetics. I am sure it wont compaire to TGA gear (as I have some myself) but being a past cup winner, I wanted to see what it would do. Gotta love that mango smell, not sure If I have one or not that smells like straight mango. Although I DO have 10 more seeds put up.

it is always a roll of the dice, the further the breeder decides to probe with inbreeding to more stable the strain may become, but i love f1's and f2's because of the instability(you have to rely on the breeder's skill and sincerity) and despite the irregularity and pheno's i found of the Kc mango, it resulted better than most of the stuff i came across at the time, i got more than one single pheno so i knew that i could find maybe one or two exceptions and the most mango was what i settled on, since that is what i paid my 17-19 dollars for. your mango looks healthy, mine ended up curled and yellowed but i still ended up with high grade buds that were dense and aromatic. i didn't see any hermaphrodites either and i tend to stress my seedlings to the maximum as a way to see if the offspring are worthy or not (and because i cannot keep my hands off them)

I grew mango outdoors before and it was horrible. Smelled like feet when dry. Tasted shitty too. But liked the Leda una very much but genetics were very unstable. Def no comparison to tga gear!
