Keeping humidity in your tent

How are you guys upping the humidity in your tents. While keeping good air exchanges.

I got. 3x3. With a 4” inline turned down. It keeps my temp in check. But my humidity is low. Like 20-25%

Put in a 800sqft 3 gal humidity. Runs continuously and hits 40%. Tank is empty in 24-36hr.

What do I need to change to get my humidity up ?

just buy another unit same as the 3 gal

When you water your plants, that generally increase humidity. When the lights are off, humidity is generally increased. Well for me at least cause I’m using a 400 watt MH. Lights on less humidity. You can always try wet towels. But I’m against that due to spores. Can always do misting the tent walls and so forth as well.

agree with above,the bigger the plants aswell humidity will start rising.

It’s a problem of mine as well in the winter. Best thing you can do is just keep the humidifier going. I’m not positive but I think 40% will do the trick for you.

You need to control the extraction to regulate the humidity. Get a temp/humidity controller and plug your extraction fan and humidifier into it, and you wont have to mess with it at all.

What if he is running the fan as slow as is already possible to vacate hot air created buy the light?

My humidity dose not change at lights off. Or when I water.

My fan is turned all the way down. And keeps my temps in check.

Even the tent full of mature plants humidity is still in the 20-25%.

I would like to put in something that’s hooked direct to a water supply. Re-filling the tank got old fast.

I have a few of those controllers.

Temps spike before the humidity dose. Trying to ballance it is a bitch.

Pond fogger. They make them big and small. They really suck up water (and electricity!).

I have a 9gal/day Lasko that I modified by adding a float to refill. Been working great for years, but when I need more in the dead of winter I kick on the fogger. I can make it so humid you can barely see, lol.

The extraction shouldn’t be running constantly. The humidity would be impossible to regulate without way over sizing the humidifier. As the OP has discovered.

Since the only way to solve the problem is to spend money or build a solution from spare parts, a temp/humidity controller is a good place to start.

The humidity will still be more acceptable than without, just from the fact that the humidifier will have a chance to catch up while the extraction is off.

If the light is hps or mh it can be cooled separately from the tent environment, but the extraction fan would still need to be controlled, because the low humidity problem will persist without turning it off.

Yeah tuning can be a problem, it helps if you know where would be a good place for you to put the sensors so they accurately reflect actual conditions. Somewhere the air is mixed well but not directly in front of a fan.

I had some issues until I figured out where to put them.

while not ideal 25% RH is fine to grow cannabis. just make sure its not too hot while its dry that will stress your plants.

where i live humidity ranges wildly with the time of year and honestly its not as big a deal as people make it seem. even for younger plants.

but, consider where you are getting your intake from and where you're exhausting to. if you're using passive intake and exhausting out a window you're gonna need quite a large humidifier essentially to change the RH in your whole house + the air exchange that you're exhausting outside. you really want to get it dialed in use a closed system with AC and CO2 and climate controllers then you can get whatever humidity you want. in an open system with air exchange to outside your kinda stuck with your local climate to some degree.

I have a hose in the shed where my tent is. Every day I spray the bottom of the tent with water until I have a pool of water on the bottom of the tent, the light evaporates the water and that's how I keep my humidity at 40-45%. Also helps with keeping my plants moist in their geopots.

I have a 3x3x6 4” ext fan runs on low, it gets tricky I have a warm mist humidifier for winter and cool mist humidifier for summer running it hi or low depending.. in the garage some days it’s worst especially rainy days...or go old school wet towel dripping in the bucket of water..when all else fails
