Keeping it cool

Just bought myself a digital thermometer yesterday to begin reading grow room temps and i did not like what i saw.
91 Degrees this morning after only HALF of my 42w CFL's were lit overnight.

There is a 9" oscillating fan blowing around in there but the lights are just overpowering.

Door must be kept closed while I'm not in the room.

Bought a timer and set it for 6 hours off from 2pm-8pm trying to avoid the hottest time of the day.

I heard one of those yeast co2 generators will take the plant tolerance up to 90degrees so I will be making one later today.

Other than that does anyone have any ideas how I can keep temps down?

Sounds like you need some venting..do you have any intake or exshaust other than the door being open?

Honestly no and other than buying a door with louvers or something like that i'm afraid I wont have much of an option there.

The closet is in the second floor of an un-airconditioned house, even my bedroom was 82-3 degrees that day.

Thats the problem with growing in places that are confined or cant get venting to other than cutting a whole in the ceiling or wall and running some 4 inch duct work....
bout a 150 fix for a sheetrocker to come out fix both sides and paint,,I'd do it myself( if i was you) and fix it before I moved if your renting

i would do the co2 and try a bigger fan if thats all you can do even through a bucket of ice w ater or and ice chest in a small room behind the fan will help circulate cool air

Don't get me wrong im going to try whatever i can to get the temps down but assuming they stay up in that range what will happen?
Will they dry out and die completely or be stunted and brown ect...

This is one of them I just took a photo of
They don't look too bad for 13 days old in that type of heat.
Don't mind the tilt, heh thats because the fan was blowing on them *oops*

i turned all my fans off for a day to see what temps a few plants would handle heater in closet for 24 hrs temps got to 104* and plant got a little wilted but think it was from lack of water...brought them right back though. the co2 does help. and the ice thing was just a quick fix out of my head..

im having the same damn problem. Im just using 2 26 watt daylight CFLS and a oscillating fan and the temp stays at 90. conveniently though, i have an attic entrance in the closet where i grow. And simple ideas for taking advantage of a 1X2 foot hole in your ceiling?

Take advantage..Im just gonna bead board the ceiling of the closet im using 6x11x9..when and if we ever sell..Get an inline fan..think you can get a cheap one for 80 bucks or can fan..but your starting to get expensive when you've stepped up to can fans,,4' ducting...Just anything to produce venting...yer babies will thrive. If there doing half decent,,think what they'ed do if you gave them a break

hmmm i see. I just left the entrance open, and its cooled down to like 85-ish.
Better, but I want like 80-ish. I also moved the plant to the floor instead of a shelf up higher, and I switched from 3 CFLS and a Fluro, to just one CFL and my fan.
