Keeping my plant alive during vacation - Help!

Hey guys,

I am going out of the state for 7 days next week. My plant is only two weeks old but very healthy and I would like to keep it alive instead of starting from the seed again. I am going to use one of those water globes at lowes that keeps your soil moist for up to two weeks. However, I would like some suggestions on the lighting. I am currently using 23 watt CFL's and I'm not a big fan of leaving lights on while I am away for an extended period of time. Do you think it'd be safe (for the plant and house) to use just one light and raise it a few inches in order to keep my plant alive? I'm open to suggestions/comments/ideas. Thanks for all your help RIU!

-Peace :joint:

kind of a bad time to be leaving plants alone didn't you knbow you were leaving? Maybe there's a window that you can use for light I don't know.

Well I got offered basically a free vacation from one of my dudes so I figured hell why not. Can't really keep it next to a window around here. Thanks for your reply though.

Yeah, that's great that you got a free vacation but really bad timing. Not so sure about the water globe I'm thinking that might drown those baby roots someone else may know better than I. As far as the light goes, you may be ok just raising it a little. However, if the plant hits a growth spurt or starts to stretch it will take less than 7 days to be in the light. That's just my 2 cents.

Water pump on a timer, if only Vegging i wouldn't worry too much about how much light they get, as long as you give them some. Ive left 3 mothers on a dripper system for 2 weeks in a tent under a cfl with absolutely no problems. They were fed just once every 2 -3 days. They didn't mind it one bit.

I will still be vegging when I go on vacation. Providing them with some form of a drip system is taken care of and I can definitely provide them with a little light. Just hope they don't stretch to much. Anyone have any idea how much a plant could possibly stretch under one CFL in one week (maximum)? If its under one foot then my plants will be just fine.

They'll be fine m8, even the most stretchy haze will be hard pushed to stretch that much.

I have to move my CFL's everyday. Mine is about 3 weeks old and is constantly growing. So just be careful.
