i just picked up a free compost bin and i loaded that bitch up with worms, a bit of soil and of course worm food. i am so excited to make my own soil, is it possible to use just the worm castings as soil, or just a soil additive

when searching to buy kelp or seaweed products, make sure it is in the "meal form". I know that kelp meal has many trace minerals and secondary nutes that are leached away in the normal "plain" kelp supplements.

Seaweed project in BC | Cannabis Chronicles

does anyone have any prior experience with it and how to process it for soil use or even fertilizer. blending? mashing? pressing?
i used to use it as a mulch outside ,after giving it a damn good wash first, plants seemed to love the stuff ,but a bit on the smelly side for a while, now i am in the hills i dont get the chance to get it ,maybe i will make a trip down the beach as it is winter here so a lot should be washed up:peace:

im trying to sprout some seeds and i have germinated them fine i was just wondering if i can use a tiny amount of my kelp tea to help with the sprouting, ive read its best not lay off the nutes until its a few weeks old. in the link in my original post it discusses how the nutrients in kelp aid in rooting, and seed germination, does anyone have any experience with it?

Organic kelp tea can be added at any age because it's organic.

Brendon, I used to live in sunny San Diego for several years. I LOVE San Diego. I lived in San Carlos, we had a little Chrysler Hydro-vee with a 70hp Johnson that was HELLA fun, especially on weeknights on the bay (San Diego, Mission is ok, but not as much fun cuz you can't break your boat on tug wakes).

I got myself some seaweed extract yesterday and used it as a foliar feed. Being the fish-thing that I am, I wish to hell that they would call it by its proper name (macroalgae, as opposed to microalgae), and tell us what species or at least genus they're using for this stuff. And you know what else? It smells GOOD, as in, "Hey... could I cook with this stuff?" good. Yeah! I know. But hey, look at what the Japanese have been doing with seaweed for hella days.

i wonder who the first person to stomach eating sea weed was, its crunchy and salty and slimy..but can be used to make some goooood sushi lol
thank you for displaying such an interest in this idea, every commercial fertilizer is read has some trace of kelp in it if not half of it. its about time US got their seaweed industry rolling, its amazing how many commodities and jobs seaweed could provide. so thanks for stopping by i hope this thread encourages more people to do their own work rather than go buy a bottle of something.
