To my horror I came home to find my red H150W had fallin and was sitting still lit on its face for days. Removing it, I noticed a small hole burned in the spill tray. Then I saw the center of the diffuser lens itself, had also been melted a bit in the middle! I called Kessil and left a voice mail. Someone called me late tonight and talked with me about the light. They determined there was no damage besides the diffuser lens itself but not the chipset. So without question they are sending a new lens with directions on how to easily replace it. Talk about standing behind your product. Thumbs up!

I chose them because they have been around for 20 years in the aquarium lighting world.

Good to hear that they stand behind their products!

So can anyone in the "Kessil Club" actually produce pics of plants grown exclusively under the Kessil product with even "good" results?
I was very interested in these at one time but the high price and every so called test disappearing with no final results sure made me skeptical.
Even the test lab deal on Kessil's own site seems to have been abandoned?
Yup I have same question.

The description says it is brighter than any CMH bulb. People are getting great results with CMH bulbs so I figure it is worth a shot!

I started using Kessil because their lights have been around for a long time in the aquarium world and are famous for growing coral. Coral is the hardest thing to keep alive.

Anyone care to clear up the Kessil mystery for me. Namely how much these lights compare to an HID equivalent. I first read that the number implies the HID equivalant wattage. Like an H150 red would be equivalant to a 150 HPS. Or a H350 magenta would be equivalent to a 350 HPS. However that seems to be quite a bit of an exageration. Now I read from kessil the new H380 is equal to a 250 watt HID while being nearly 30% more powerful than the previous H350. So it would take 4 to output like a 1000 HPS. So the H350 cant near be equivalent to a 350 watt light, if the new H380 is stated to be only comparable to a 250 watt HID. So what does that make the H350? Maybe 200 watt? How about the 150? Maybe 100 watt? Someone clear me up please.

Ok well my eyes have not yet melted from the intensity of these Kessil's lol. However they seem to work well. My question is realistically how much HID light are the Kessil LED's equivalant to? So far I guess:

H150-100 watts
H350-200 watts
H380-250 watts

Different kind of light and focused directly down. Cold intense light - like up in the Hindu Kush.

They use LEDs to make lasers. Efficient, potent, tuned light.

Kessils are tuned for growing. Minimal wasted energy (heat) and wavelengths.

Thanks for the info Mohican. Kessils seem to be efficient lights, and they no doubt grow good meds. The comparison of actual output though, will always be made between led spots like Kessil and led panels like california lightworks, black dog, and apache etc. I dont understand why Kessil doesnt make the actual wattage output more clear, instead of having to guess it. For instance the H380 is no where near 380 watts of light output. So if they say its comparable to a 250 watt HID why not call it an H250? Or if the H150 is only really about a 100 watt equivalant, they could call it an H100. Im just saying. Your thoughts?

Most HID light is wasted. Usable Kessil LED light is equal to what a 350 or 380 watt HID would put out, minus the heat produced and electricity used.

Ok you are making it clearer for me. Please share some tips youve learned for making these Kessils the most useful please. Distances for different models from plants etc? I have 2 H350, 1 H380, and 2 H150's. If anything, it may be too much for my 2X2.5X7 ft. tall tent.
