but they're kids.. who are lacking that kind of comprehension... you tell a child to focus and they stare at the page like they're trying to move it with their mind.. i'm not trying to be insulting for once tonight.. but do you have alot of experience with kids?

that was my reply to you saying a good ass whipping was in order, can't see either of these things benefiting a child with adhd, maybe in the right way to create a descent well rounded human being..

^ true.. beating a kid and sending him/her to their room doesn't really do anything but create anger and hatred in the child.. but if you spank them and then explain WHY they got their ass spanked... and then explain that if they don't do it again, then they wont get whipped again... then it goes alot further.. I had my ass beat as a child... my mother was a single mother who believed in spare the rod, spoil the child.. that is to say if we did wrong, she tore our ass up.. even playing psychological games such as sending us to pick our own switches.... and I believe i'm a better person for it... I thank her everyday of my life for every ass whippin I ever got.. I also feel I should have gotten more...
I should have explained myself a little further.. I uess I thought you could look at my ass and read my mind..
A lot of kids that are diagnosed ADHD or ADD are just bad ass kids.. my cousin has two that are diagnosed ADHD.. and the only thing wrong with them is her.. she babies them and makes deals with them to get what she wants out of them.. instead of just beating their ass (I don't mean beat in the literal sense) lke they need... and she often plays, what I call, Russian Roulette.. warning them numerous times before ever making a move to carry out her threats...and use's everyone uses the ADHD as an excuse.. when you get onto them, they sy "well they're ADHD, they can't help it".. and the child knows it... if you start to spank one of 'em, they'll pull the "but I haven't had my pill today" shit.. but when you leave them with me.. they know what the bussiness is.. you get told one time... after that it's busted asses and runny noses from there on out.. and I never have a problem with them.. but let their mother walk thru the door and it's another story...

word all the stims they put kids on pre-disposes them to addiction like mad. out of all the kids I was in the "behavioral exceptionality" program with are on real drugs

I definitely concentrate better while high. My thoughts actually lead somewhere as to opposed to when I am sober I am pretty absent-minded. I definitely see how this could help kids with ADHD because ADHD has less to do with the ability to memorize something and more so with the ability to process information period.

It's been proven time and time again that positive reinforcement works significantly better than negative reinforcement (punish for bad or reward for good, so in essence "if you don't do this (bad behavior) i'll give you that (something they highly desire)" works better than "if you do that again i'll do this to you"
the fact that you felt you received your fair share of beatings just adds further evidence toward positive reinforcement working better than negative. if those beatings worked then you'd stop the bad behavior because you feel that the pain wouldn't be worth it. obviously you don't mind the pain, since you say even now you wish you had received more beatings. so if you want more of the punishment that your mother used as incentive to get you to do what she wants, then what has she really accomplished?
