Dan, sorry for the late response. I, too prefer to smoke the dry ice stuff. I find the taste more complex. We actually created a market for it with one of the delivery services we work with. By offering both dry ice and ice water hash, we are able to unload all concentrates to one source. We've been getting $10/gram for the full melt ice water and killer dry ice, and $5/gram for the cooking grade of each one. I followed Matt's instructions on the ice water extract and got 50 grams of true full melt first time. (Thanks Matt!!!) The dry ice method is definately faster and cleaner, but the ice water gives us 2 more varieties to vend, and many people want to see that hashy look that ice water gives.

man , i didn't know about dry ice extract . ! good shit Dan. How is the vending going ? I got about 1 1/2 pound of nice close trimm. I'm thinking about doing dry ice or BHO

It went really well for a second. Then I ran out of places that wanted that much kief. It's not a product they sell a lot of, so if a dispensary already has some, they usually aren't looking for more. I've still got quite a bit that I can't find a home for. I'm going to harvest very soon, I'll be making ice water and oil out of it rather than more kief.

Basically, it's really awesome if you've got a place that'll take it, but finding a place that wants it is difficult.

Just yesterday my main dispensary told me they would be stopping the BHO for a while. Wax was a very big thing at this place. In fact, I had just contracted with someone to wax up a bunch of my trim for me. I will not personally get near a BHO settup for legal reasons. Now, I may not have even a BHO outlet.

My kief experience is almost word for word the same as Dan's. I make a big batch...sell it to dispensary...they sell it to some happy buyers...I make another batch....dispensary still has buttload from last batch...my kief pile gets bigger and bigger. Since I'm not a fan of shotgun marketing, potential buyers are limitted.

Depends how good the bud was, also wax is strain dependent. If it doesn't wax up you can still make glass out of it by putting it on low heat for a long time.
 
hey dan if u wanna refine that kief further get a high micron prefamed silk-screen. turn it upside down put the kief in there get a little shop-vac from lowes and run it on the bottom of the screen it will pull the really nice heads thru and leave the BS on the top
 
We helped process a bunch of trim for a friend and as a result have a substantial amount of kief -- how's the market these days? Probably going to take it to a couple of places this week and see whether they want some. Unfortunately a good % of it came out green.
