get some diatomaceous earth from a online, or nursery. Call around, most don't carry it. Don't get the pool kind its to weak. 8 bucks for a pound but will last for years.

The shells provide nutrients and silica to the plants, and it's organic too.

Also try potato slices on the top of the soil. keep them there for 24hrs and you might have some bugs on the bottom of them and throw them away.

How thick should the potato slices be?

It doesn't matter but the thinner they are the faster they will rot and have to throw them out. if you have them on there for 24 hrs should be fine. try it for a few days and if there's no bugs on the bottom of the potato's then you have to try another way to get rid of the bugs. Its just a cheap way to try and it does work sometimes.

I say thinner then 1/2 inch but dont peel them with a potato skinner.

You could also use neem oil

yeah thats a great product too. If I went with that I would use squid plus neem oil

Aside from the scent of neem oil I see no benefit using it over a cheap vegetable oil. Add garlic and pepper for that extra kick. If I am wrong please provide evidance other than testimonial or an advertisement for said neem brands.

Neem oil has been used for 100s of years. its used on plants and humans for all kinds of things. I dont think i have run into anybody that doesnt reccomend it. I dont know how the oil, garlic and pepper work but neem oil works by disrupting the insects hormones causing them to forget to eat, reproduce, or do anything productive. So instead of just killing some insects on contact it can actually get rid of all the insects so they cant reproduce. Plus after buying veggy oil, garlic, pepper i think a bottle of neem oil is cheaper.

But you already have pepper, garlic and oil in your kitchen. Pot heads eat food.

Im almost positive that oil works cause it breaks down exoskeletons on insects. Any oil will do this. Neem is used on plants more often cause of its odour.
Im not saying neem oil is bad, Its oil and it works. Probably cause it comes with a mixing proportion guide and growers are less likely to over do it. Thus a high success rate.

No neem oil isnt used for its smell, its used like i said, its no mystery. It disrupted their system when they eat it, its not because its an oil, its because of the ingredients of the oil.

Plus vegetable oil, pepper, and garlic sounds like they would attract other animals. Not saying it wonted work, just not the best.

hi just reading this as i am suffering some kind of bug in my soil like a tiny white maggot i think its a fungus gnat larve but have been thinking of using parasitic nematodes Steinernema feltiae wich apparently get inside these bugs and kill them from the inside out has anyone here used these and with what results they seem cheep enough ,also some research iv done here says these larve arnt realy a problem but my girls seem to be slow growing and the only diiference is theses bugs ok thanks
