inch worms! those are funny little guys. made me laugh as a child to watch them walk. throw him in the neighbors yard. :-)

yu don't seem to understand the seriousness of this problem. this little guy would have made his way down into that top cola. he would have started to burrow away. in 2 weeks he would have been 3inches long and have wiped out a good sized bud by chewing down the center of the stalk.

yeah i have already had to kill 3 budworms total since my plant has been flowering. i caught them early but the last one was a little bigger and fatter than the rest. You can always tell that they are there by the dead looking bud that has some silky web on it.

i usually see 1 dead leaf. right in the middle of a big cola. i dig in and they he is. by the time they kill the leaf though they have already done major damage.

we have a chance of showers this evening. maybe if i spray them down when it's raining i can get the Bt down to the worms.

its a never ending hunt of pests, seems if this was something i fought full time. indoors you have mites and gnats out doors all kinds of new friends. when they fly and drop in its very hard to control.

FDD my passion vines get riddled with worm of a different nature using chemicals is a must this time of year. it has been a blast to see these monsters grow dont let something get a free ride. you dont want to donate "creeper" to the patients

Good luck fdd. We have had a bad infestation of those little inch worms. Usually if u find one then you missed 3. I have these pests all over the pole beans we have going this year and there is new half eaten leaves every day. I have been treating them with "seven" every seven days the most recommended for the past 1.5 months and no sign of letting up. It is a good thing that my pole beans are almost done. Fight those bastards every way you can they are a problem for sure..
