Kratky method questions

I grew kratky tomatoes last year. I used canna hydro flower nutes (had extra nutrs. Didn't buy them for tomatoes). Worked great. Lots of sweet tomatoes.

I don't think kratky will work very well for cannabis. The root oxygen demands are too great for fast growth in a kratky. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen great examples. Maybe if you used a huge res, but would it make any sense?
It does work but you're right, they do a lot better with the added air and circulation.

Large reservoir with a a middle bucket float valve and teed off to each plant in their own bucket. Like a 55 gallon res, but a 5 gallon float valve bucket and every plant teed off the float bucket. Almost like an ebb+grow minus the pumping, just a constant replacement of what they drank. I can't draw for shit otherwise I'd try to make a pic, someone would think the kindergardeners got ahold of the crayons again.

I'll give my $0.02. Like any setup, Kratky needs to be done right. You need an inert media, like hydroton, that does not wick. You need to start them right, size the rez right, feed them right etc... anything less and you will get subpar results. The best results I have seen is with big buckets, starting them with a high level and letting them drink down to about 3-4" of water and then set your float valve at that level. If the media has wicking abilities it won't grow roots well in the chamber, the humidity from the rez will saturate the media and stop root growth. never water from the top. Learn to identify the different root types, you want to make an environment that is conducive to growing those air roots, the fuzzy roots everyone loves to see. Those roots are where the plant gets the oxygen, not the water. Without a properly sized ait gap, the air roots will not grow and you'll have mostly water roots and slow growth.

If you want a lot of O2, you need those air roots. You would be surprised at how little water roots a large plant needs to survive, but the air roots are where it thrives. YOU NEED THAT LARGE AIR GAP.
