Lake as water source?

Hey guys,

I'm lookin to have a grow site that would support 50+ plants. The strain I plan on using would be ganja dwarf or Iranian G13. This would all be within a very short distance to a lake. What I'm wondering is could I use this to water my plants without disrupting nutrient balance or adding harmful metals. This lake has no boats used on it, it's stocked with fish every season, also there's a bit of Lilly pad and such but nothing that would indicate huge amount of nitrogen. Any input you guys got for me would be awesome. Thanks:)

I've been playing with the same idea using a sump, 12v battery, power inverters, and a drip/valve irrigation system. Other than going into a long winded explanation of my setup the only advice i can give u is don't put a lot of plants in 1 site close to water sources. I have a close relative in the DEA who said the choppers fly over water sources and major roads, in my case route 1, so I advise spreading out your plants in scattered groups of 5 or 10. It could be different in your area but I'd hate 2 c a fellow grower go to prison or have all of his plants chopped down after all that hard work.

Yeah I hear you bout the choppers, I've seen the ariel of my site and it's completely covered by trees Hahaha:)& good luck with your irrigation eh, but i can check on my plants whenever so I'll probably end up using a syphon hose..

Works great! Thats what I do or pull water that from one of my "ponds". Tap water here is just a pain in the ass to work with and costs a lot. Go figure, we are surrounded by water????

To be sure I'd run a quick water test first. You can get one pretty cheap to test aquarium's. I always run PH, GH and nitrate or ammonia just to know exactly what I am working with. Also, depending on your lake the composition may change over the year.

this may be obvious, but dont get caught pumping water from a lake...if its large enough somebody might see you. I remember seeing that on the news some mexicans got caught that way.

Hahaha yeah I'll Learn from the mistakes of the mexicans for sure, thanks for all the input guys, using tap water would suck bigtime to support the plants. It's pretty thorny an all that stuff lol that'll be for the better though:)
