If No, don't do it. Wait till your lease is up and move.

It doesn't matter if he is a cop. If your landlord isn't "understanding" they will call the police regardless.

I agree with Ringsixty. Yes, you can get friendly, but what if you have a falling out and he decides to get rid of you in a big way?
