Large aero build idea...thoughts?

Hey guys, been a lurker for a few years and believe it's my first post. I'm currently growing in soil but very familiar with RDWC.

Ready to change my style and try a low pressure aero setup.. I grow 5x10 scrogs under 2600 watts, co2 sealed room.

I've been pondering some ideas of a large scale aero with low plant counts. I know most run 4-6" pvc with higher plant counts. What do you aero growers think about running 12" pvc or corrugated pipe?

I have built 2 10ftx2.5 ft rolling tables, was planning on running 10ft of the 12" pipe per table ( 4 plants)

What are you thoughts? Is this doable?

I never liked small spaces for aero.

Check out this guy's grow room. I like the fact that the roots don't touch the bottom.
..or in my aero, I use Active Aqua 25gal aero chamber.

Do you think 4 plants per 10' would be alright? Space them every two feet.. Is this over kill for 4 plants?

If you're using smaller pipes, it might turn out to be more like stinkybuds design; NFT-Areo hybrid. I personally don't like the design, but a lot of people get great results with it.



For space, it really depends on your Veg time. My state allows me to have double the amount of plants in Veg, so only half go to Flower and the rest stay in Veg for a couple more months. I end up with about 3ft×5ft plants to start Flowering; normally pruning heavy to get them to fit. You'll have to do some grow testing, in Veg, to determine exactly how much Veg you'll need for the size you want.

Whats your fav grow system?

I always DIY everything. I like my system, but I'm Aqua-Aero, as show in the second video in my first post above. If I were to remake it, Id use a deeper Res. Currently it's only 13in deep. I'd like to be around 24in so my roots wouldn't touch anything and still room for my worm bed.

Problem with Aero is its designed for small plant size you be much better off with flood n drain table 5 x 10 or so

What size pots would grow a 5oz plant or doesnt pot size matter with aero?
Also can coco be used in the net pots as a medium?

Respectfully, I disagree. My plants are not small, although, some designs can only handle small plants.

By "pot", I assume you meant "net cup or pot", or alike. With Aero, pot size really doesn't matter. Keep in mind, fixing issues like plumbing in a mass of roots could damage your plants, and roots might clog your drains. With proper Res maintenance you'll be fine.

first of all we have not seen your plants right truth is as i spoke to actual engineers with aeroponic high and low pressure that its designed for small plants sog style that is it veg one or 2 weeks and flip now that is coming from the mouths of people that are spending millions , i sorta would take there words before some DIY aero grower ,, that has spiderman wire tied to the plants in all directions haha
Not trying to come off wrong i just wish i kept the correspondence and the reasons why
also the down falls with the system for instance long power outage DEAD plants , plugged jets , to many problems that can arrise
But would love to see your what you call not small plants cause that also can be huge difference on what you call a Big plant and what i call a Big plant

Some net cups can handle roots more efficiently with different molding designs. The roots will grow better with the one on the right.


Another thing to think about is trunk diameter. I would have a hard time with 2in net cups. The plastic would possibly start cutting my tap roots.



Lastly, hydroton is another issue with larger plants. I remove hydroton as the roots get bigger and push up the hydroton, so it overflows.

I tent to avoid anything that might clog the sprinklers and pumps. With that said, ...maybe.

Ill start by saying, they're beautiful ladies; very nice grow.

But I won't compare dick size with you. I grow enough for me and Im completely happy with it. You clearly have more head room than me, it's nothing to brag about. Anyone with the right grow room can do it. Who cares about yeild. Feel free to listen to whom ever you want for yourself, but I wouldn't give advice to someone for something you haven't even tried yourself. Everyone has their own style.

If you've been reading the thread, I posted a couple of videos, and one of my grow. I also follow the rules of my state and handicap by the room I have to grow. I consider my grow to be one of the most unique systems in the world. Again, I'm Aqua-Aero with worm bed under the Aero camber.

Thanks guys, anonymous, what's your setup? I think I'll try the idea, worse case it sucks and I'm down a grow, luckily I've got large enough rooms I'll have back up soil plants going.. Dumme, any advise on sprayer brand/style? Do you run your pump 24/7 or 1min on 5 off?

I use what's called the "Antelco Rotor Rain Mini Sprinkler", because it moves more water, and doesn't clog as much. Both have their uses.


The picure show the sprinkler I use, but I've DIY a root guard using a PVC cap, a small sliver of PVC, nylon screen, and PVC cement; also shown is .5in threaded cuppling, and orbit 6.in threaded riser.

In my case, I run 24/7, because I'm Aquaponics; and another reason why I like to move more water. The more water that's moved, the cleaner the water is for my fish.
