I don't use organics, but from what I've read on here, they're needed for the decomposition process of the natural nutes and shit. If that's not it, then you have a case of fungus gnats.

If you can, post up some pics so we can take a look.

You need to let the soil dry out, so only water when you really need to, this usually gets rid of them.
How did you apply the diatomaceous earth, your supposed to sprinkle a thin layer on the top of the soil, not mix it in.

The diatomaceous earth has very sharp edges that cuts the bodies to shreds as they try to get to the surface, that's why it needs to be on top.
You could still put some on top, enough to cover the whole surface but dont over do it.

don't try boric acid, it messes up the ph big time. i've tried it before, thought if could kill roaches....

Yeah, the only 2 uses I know for boric acid is to mix it with sugar to kill cockies or as a flux when melting metals to remove the scum, so it must be pretty potent.

if they are like micro-fleas that you only really see when you water, they jump like fleas to avoid the water or if you blow them gently they will jump up. If you have springtails dont worry. They are little garbage collectors. Nothing to worry about.
