Last year was a rough one. I really got burned by questionable genetics and ended up with a lot of hermies. Plants were good, buds were good, hermies were annoying. So this year I went with regular seeds from a more well known, stable strain.
So I started 10 White Russian (White Widow x AK-47) from Ceres seeds.
I started the seeds in Fox Farms Happy Frog in Solo Cups and transplanted into Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil.
I am using the Fox Farms Trio and following the feeding schedule available online. I have currently fed twice @ 1/4 strength and the plants seem fairly happy. I will increase the feeding over the next few weeks slowly and see how they respond.
The current light for flowering is a 600w HPS with Lumatek ballast and a Sun Systems XL hood. The veg cycle was started and completed with a T5HO 400w(ish) 6 lamp fixture.
A few plants have shown sex and while I'm not yet ready to kill the suspected male, I don't think it will be long for confirmation. I think I'm in denial on him, haha. Right now the numbers are:
4 - Female
1 - Male
5 - Unknown
At the size they are I would really like to get 6 females, but even 5 would be okay. I think the #'s are on my side, but I'm always pessimistic during this part. I figure worst case scenario I'll switch to a 400w if it turns out only 4 females in the end and I'll switch to 1000w if it ends up 8 or something silly. I have various lamps and ballast options available as I've accumulated so much stuff over the years in different setups.
I take pictures and post on fridays and I like to refer to it as Photo Op Fridays and I think the ladies get pretty excited to show off for everyone. These are the Fridays from the veg period and I'll continue on from here and post pictuers every friday. Friday was basically the first day of 12/12 so we're working through our first week of flower!
I consider this the 2011 batch because if it's awesome I'll put it on repeat and probably run it all season and this first batch won't be done until sometime in January.
