did anyone check out the vice episode last night? white collar weed? it was extremely good and brought so many points to the front people aren't seeing. I was so mad to see the guy in the beginning running the massive operation that basically isn't even a fan of the product he's there just to get all he can money wise off the sales and distribution. they had a really good portion on the small farmers that fought all these years for all of us and our rights and how they are being not only basically forgotten but being targeted by forces that be solely because they are easier to target and take down than a large business doing ten times the volume... anyway it was good anyone else see it?

Nope, but I will watch it. Thanks for the tip-off. Vice has some good stuff but sometimes it is hopelessly smug for my tastes.

As to the little guy being shoved out. Yeah, saw that coming. It was inevitable. That is how America works.

Theres two great books on this issue, No Logo by Naomi Klein and McDonaldization of society by George Ritzer.

In a capitalist system thats what it will entail... I think the industry might get crazy for a while..i think eventually it will end up a bit like beer. There commercial shit beer, theres some commercial acceptable one, then shit looooad of all sorts of craft and small brewers for the discerning snobs.
Im just afraid what it will do to cannabis culture and quality of weed, and more importantly amount of dickheads in the industry. Its up to stoners to keep it authentic.

It is an apt comparison but... here in the states we are very moralistic and need to see things in black and white. Alcohol has remained much more acceptable in our society than smoking weed. Thus it is very likely that the right to grow will be restricted and the micro-brew equivalent for weed would need to be a criminal. The system will not be purely capitalistic because of distortions caused by legislation.

To put it in other words... you could not politically get away with saying, "there are only going to be five brewers allowed in NY state" but you can for weed. Oh yes you can.

And if you could, do you think those five brewers would be the best? Fuck no, they would be the best connected.

Actually, it was the repeal of Federal laws that prohibited home brewing from 1919 until 1978 that led to the fruition of craft beer in America. We ain't going to get that with weed. IMO, if you need weed, the law will grant you the right to buy from an oligopoly of plugged-in people at high prices (sounds like our current healthcare system) - that is the way we are heading.

Protected people being given access to protected markets, that's what America is about. Vote Trump. lol

oh yeah the episode last night had one more person that made me mad it was a 24 year old girl thats father had some large business in the area and the way the bids went out for legal growers you needed 40k to enter the bid a 200k deposit and her daddy was putting upwards of 6mil to a grow facility.. now mind you she's 24.. clearly hasn't been growing cannabis long if at all and now owns one of something like 6 massive legal weed operations in her area. mostly from the report insinuations because her fathers long standing presence in the business community. then she's sitting there acting like she wants to be one of the massive companies opening across the US holding the market in as many areas as possible.. yet this young person has done nothing for the community or the fight prior to. (that i know of obviously i don't know her personally)

I'll bet it is dank tho...

I think that is the point... done nothing for the fight. Why would they want to reward trouble makers who knowingly violate the TOS by shoving porn down our throats?
