late 90's bag seed experiments

I've got a stash of some old seeds from a buddy, I popped two of the seeds almost a month ago now and both plants look great but are starting to show male pollen sacks. Both plants look fairly indica dominant one more than the other. The more sativa looking of the two began forming pollen sacks sooner than the other. I also have some female purps#1 ladies by dinafem currently and am thinking of trying one or both males to get some seeds to see what pops up from those beans. Any advice for a newbie doin this for the first time what these male should be lookin like for good breeders.

If you don't know anything for certain about the history of those seeds, then it's kind of a shot in the dark. If you are insistent on doing it, then pick the one that has the more pleasing growth structure for your liking.

Not at all 100% success rate, I always heard after a few years the germination rate is bad and weak plants are a result. With bag seeds I also hear the older genetics tend to be better if they do end up being viable. Also that bag seeds today if not intended for seed purpose are junk cuz it prob has hermie tendencies. Correct me if that's wrong.

Couldn’t possibly correct you, Bud - I’m in no position to do a serious job of trying to germinate them (no lie: to even try to do so would get me out on the street instantly, @70, with quite literally nowhere to go...why, yes - I *do* have trust issues). I keep ‘em, and I plan, and...maybe I won’t die first

Viability of old seeds usually has to do with the storage conditions. If they are stored in a dark, cool, dry environment, they will stay viable for much longer. I have not read a scientific study that says whether or not old seeds with bad germ rate correlates to weak plants. Same goes for modern bag seeds having higher probability of herms.

It does sound exciting. I've only ever found a few bag seeds, other than the ones I intentionally pollinated. I've got them in my little seed safe in the fridge.

In the 90's me and my buddies used to get all our weed off my buddy's mom the one that gave me the seeds. Super hippie lady cool as hell always had good smoke and plants going in the garden.
