Late Season Easy Ryder (Auto AK47 x Low Ryder #2) Outdoor Grow

Those ERs are looking awesome growing outdoors, in fact I think those are the nicest looking ones I've seen actually. Gives me hope, since I've got one ER getting started under CFL right now that I'm going to move outdoors in a week or so to live out its life. I have 4 other Easy Ryders growing indoors in a grow box that I started over the course of the last 10 days or so, and they're gonna be on a 20/4 cycle throughout. I'm doing the one outdoors purely for comparison purposes and more or less to experiment, but I'm feeling better about it after seeing yours. I'm in Southern Calif. and it's warm here well into November usually, sometimes even December, with plenty of light through October, so it should do pretty well even this late in the year (unless this 105-110+ heat kills it off). Look forward to seeing more of your pics before harvest and finding out what the yield is!
Thanks. Just give them lots of light and take it easy on the nutes and they should be fine.

Just a quick update since it's been awhile since I posted, I took a visit on Monday but when I got there my camera was dead. Gonna try to head out later today and get some pictures up.

New pics! I just wrote like 3 paragraphs and when I hit enter there was some kind of error and I lost everything so instead of re-typing it all out I'm going to keep it short and sweet. It was pretty much just me rambling on about how much I'm liking this strain and my thoughts about how long they have left. If you guys haven't noticed, I tend to be long winded sometimes, haha. The first one is probably the farthest along, so I'm thinking about 2 more weeks on that one. They are just shy of 7 weeks old, so that seems about right. What do you guys think? Like I mentioned in my other thread, I'm not big on dates and deadlines. They are ready when they are ready, but I get paranoid sometimes that something is going to happen. To me, picking a week early and losing a few grams isn't as big of a deal as having to worry about mold, bud worms, or getting ripped off. So, as soon as most of the hairs turn brown and start receding into the buds, that first one is getting chopped. fdd2blk has an "is it ready?" thread, so I think I'm going to stop in there and see what he has to say. Oh, for you indoor guys who are considering this strain, they are really starting to smell strong. If they were indoors and stealth was a concern, I think you would definitely need some sort of odor control. Similar to the last auto I grew, the smell is very piney.

I'm still on the fence about molasses. It's been raining here for the past 4-5 days, so the soil is still wet. Maybe once it dries out I'll try it on one of them. These autos don't seem like they need much nutes. I actually only fed them 3 times so far at 1/2 strength. I don't want to add anything to them if they really don't seem like they need it. We'll see what happens.

Ugh, I've had that stupid bug with the site happen to me many times, and I'm long winded too so it's REALLY irritating. Something about the token expiring, but it doesn't store what you've written so when you hit the back button you can't retrieve it. Over time I've made a habit of almost always copying what I've typed into memory (CTRL-C on PC) whenever I'm posting something online, just in case something like this happens. It's saved me from having to retype tons of stuff over the years.

Your plants are looking fantastic. Very nice shade of green and they look extremely healthy. I suspect you're in a much more temperate climate than where I'm at here in So-Cal, where we're getting 110 temps currently and haven't had any rain since I can't remember when. Not at all sure my outdoor ER is going to survive in weather like this, but I'm going to let it get a healthy start indoors before I move it out.

Thanks for the heads up on the smell, I really haven't seen people comment very much about the odor from ERs. I'm growing most of mine indoors and I definitely don't want to announce to anybody walking in my front door that I'm growing, so I'm going to have to address odor I guess. Keep 'em going, can't wait to see the finished product!

Well, I went out to water the girls today and decided to cut the first Easy Ryder. Probably could have used another week or so, but I figured what the hell. I have 2 more plus 4 large non auto females so I'm not too concerned. I'd say over 50% of the hairs have turned brown. Not sure what I'm looking at in terms of yield yet. Going to let it hang for a few days before I give it the final trim and break down the cola a little bit. Definitely going to give the other two about another 10 days before I even consider chopping. For whatever reason the other two are much farther behind than this one. They don't even really have any brown hairs yet. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I clipped a little bud off the one I chopped on Friday I believe. I tried it last night and it had the high I was after, so that was one of the reasons (among others) I cut it today. Smells good too. There's a hint of something I can't quite put my finger on.

Just looked at the pictures and they don't do it justice. It looks like much nicer and a little bigger in real life.

Haha, don't worry buddy, you're fingers will be sticky soon enough.

It's actually a bit more work than I though. Took me a good half hour just to trim a pretty small plant and I'm not even done yet. Still gotta give it another once over. I'm thinking about keeping some of the smaller leaf matter on since it's completely covered in resin.

I'm sort of regretting cutting it so soon. I should have given it another week I think. The main problem was I can't have them all finishing at the same time. Even this small amount is stinking the whole room up. You can even smell it a little outside the room and it is inside of a closet. Good news is that after a day and a half, the smell is starting to die down.

I can't wait to have sticky fingers lol.. I'm telling you, if you really need it get some ONA gel. I noticed when I put it in a bowl, that shit evaporates fast though... Smells nice and fresh!

Yeah I'm looking into getting some soon. Think I'm going to have to buy it online or something. Nearest grow store is almost an hour away. This, I can deal with, but when the big plants are done I imagine it's going to be much worse.

It's been a little over 2 days since I cut down, so some of the smaller buds are almost dry already. I have to say, I've never smelled ganja that was this minty before. Almost takes me back to when I was a kid and my best friend's mom used to make us fresh brewed iced tea in the summer with fresh mint leaves from her back yard. If you really put your nose up to it, there are some light fruit undertones too. So far I'm satisfied with the grow, but still kicking myself for not letting it go a little longer. Unfortunately, I can't try any yet because I have 2 job interviews next week and need to keep my pee clean.

Chopped another one today. It was the odd ball of the three and hasn't really done much in a week so it was time to come down. I'm a little dissapointed there wasn't all that much bud left after trimming. Mostly just resin covered leaves. The bud that's there is really dense and pure white with resin. It's hanging now, so I'll get a pic of the trimmed bud up a little later. The final weight of the one I cut last week came in at 13g. Was shooting for 20g, but I'll take it. The third and final plant still isn't showing any signs of being done. First pic is the one I cut today. Second two pics are of the last remaining plant.

Few bud shots. Even though it looks like a lot less than the last plant, I have a feeling the weight is going to be about the same.

Second Easy Ryder has been drying for 4 days now and is dry enough to smoke. Not minty like the first one, but has a nice spicy smell and taste to it. Not surprised considering it looked like a different pheno compared to the other 2. Weight came in at a meager 9 grams, bring the total up to 22 grams with one more plant left. So my original goal of 2 oz between the 3 plants probably isn't going to happen. Even if I pull 20 grams off the last one, which I think is possible but unlikely, it will still leave me 1/2 oz under my mark. Doesn't seem like much, but if I were to buy 1 1/2 oz by the 1/8th, it would come to $600. Not too bad to me considering the $50 seed investment (which came with 4 freebies worth close to $50 by themselves) and another $10 for soil and buckets. Light's free outside and they didn't really require all that much work. So overall I guess I can't really complain. They were a lot of fun to grow. The seeds are a little overpriced though IMO. Thought I'd throw up a pic of what's left. After giving my brother 1/4 oz for helping me out this summer and smoking some, there is only about a gram of small nuggets left. The last one will be coming down later in the week.

I'd have to agree with you about the price as that's the only reason I won't order them again. But I had a ittle better results than you. Mine finished at 13 inches yeilded 20 grams and could have doubled that. Damn blue jays knock all my pots over and this cause my easy ryder to stop growing for about a week. That and I would supplament a couple more hours of light everyday cause here in michigan only about 14 hours of light don't quite do it. Smoke was very good tasting and. Buzz is felt immediatally and last for a decent amount of time. Btw mine took 90 days overall.

Damn 90 days? I knew I was picking a little early but I didn't think that much. I can see this last one going like 2 more weeks though. This is a guerilla style grow so I can't really supplement any more light. I've been pretty lucky though the weather has been very good since I took them out. Mostly sunny days with very little rain. I had a few problems early on when I went vacation. Probably put me back about a week too. How many did you grow did you get any weird phenos?

Chopped the 3rd and final Easy Ryder today at a little under 10 weeks. In all honesty, another week probably wouldn't have hurt, but I needed to get these done and taken care of to make room for the big girls which will be finishing in the next few weeks. Thought I'd throw a pic of the cola up before I broke it up to trim it better. I think it dries better that way too. Thanks to everyone who followed along over the past couple of months. I'm going to post a smoke report and a final summary of the grow when it's all dry. I can tell right now though that this last plant alone is probably going to weigh close to the first two combined. Again, thanks for everyone's interest and advice.

Damn that is one fat bud!! I'm jealous lol.. So we should be doing smoke reports around the same time depending on how fast they dry!! We should roll a SR ER hybrid!!:joint:

Very nice! I'll be very happy if my main colas look like that. I'm amazed at how different my 5 Easy Ryders are growing, all in the same grow box except for one. They've all had exactly the same soil, lighting, water and nutrients, yet one of them is over 10" tall at only 23 days from seed, and is incredibly healthy looking, whereas my other 23-day-old ERs are only about 5-6" tall, and my oldest at 28 days is only 6.5" tall (though all are very healthy and full). The height isn't the only difference, my 10"+ ER is flat out huge all around, and has a monster stalk and stems. It's been growing about 3/4" at least in every direction for about the last week or more, and at this rate I can't even imagine how big it's going to be at 70-80 days. As far as the buds go, those all seem to be growing pretty similar so far (and obviously not very big yet since they've only been flowering for about 6-10 days). I've put a lot of effort into these girls so they better produce!

BTW, what have you used in the way of supplements and nutes? I've been going very easy on mine, since most people say less is more with Autos, as long as you start off with good soil and I'm using FFOF + some extra Black Gold Perlite. The only things I've added at all have been a Silicon solution called Pro-Tekt and some Hygrozome with every feeding, until they started to flower then I also started adding a bloom nute.
