Latest Mini Stealth ScrOG Box on Castors!

Just finished building the majority of my new grow box.

I did the re-model because I decided that; a - I wanted to have more space and, b - because I wanted it to be a bit more portable.

Eventually I'll be running a 400w Dual spec in here with all the trimmings, cool tube etc.

The dimensions are approximately, width 90cm, height 80cm, and depth 40cm.

Here's some pics from my previous grow and my old cab, because we can't very well start a new thread without some bud porn XD!

(^this cab is looking a bit battered now as it was made from cheap shitty materials, which is reason 3 for upgrading)

New Cab:

SAM_1016.jpg

Passive intakes in the floor (might have to drill out a few more though)

SAM_1014.jpgSAM_1015.jpgSAM_1017.jpg

The little section on the right is going to (eventually) be sectioned off to house to carbon filter and fan, I will also be ventilating this area too to keep the ambient temps down and the ballast cool etc.

Only things left to do are:

Light proof (a bit difficult at the moment as there are no lights : )
Section off the right hand side
Cut out the hole on said panel to put the ducting through
Paint the outside some sort of colour/white
Take down old cab and put this in its place
Finish off my shitty bottle grow in this cab under CFL's and LED
Add ScrOG Screen

and finally Mylar the inside, install lights etc (will be getting mylar with the 400w dual spec when I have more money)

I'll be growing out Bubblelicious and some other strain, something sweet/zesty, any recommendations?

Comments and criticism's welcome, be nice lol my DIY is a touch shoddy.

I shall update when something more exciting happens :)

Happy Growing!

First!

And no your DIY's not shoddy lol be thankful you can do it at all, wouldnt know where to begin!
Excited to see what passive intake in the floor can do, I want that. Have you found that chart somewhere that tells you exactly the diameters and amount of holes you need per exhaust or something? Like a scale?

Cheers man!

but nope... no calculations or charts, I just drilled a few, once the fans installed I'll run it for a bit and see if it needs anymore!

Latest news!

Painted the outside white'ish
Ordered some magnetic door catches, Draught excluder, and a ton of duct tape.
Caulked the inside corners edges for light and a bit of heat retention.

Still to do aside from buying stuff; Insulate the grow part of the cab, and section off the carbon filter section.

Had a massive argument with the missus about the location of the cab... apparently it now has to stay in the garden so I'm going to work on a bit of insulating and waterproofing, amazing how influential (nagging) women can be...

Next job I'm going to build a shed ('cause this DIY job turned out good and because I need one for tools etc) this cab will then be put in the shed for extra heating/security.

Ahh my friend tell you're mrs she is lucky you love her...
I would be telling the female how about you go live in the garden these need to stay warm + in my sight :L

But great idea i'm loving it +rep returned

lol Cheers man!

I got high fences and barbed wire and its a small garden so easy to catch people half way over the fence with the baseball bat lol, plus the only place you could get over the fence goes straight into a pond so the girls should be safe.

Yeah let's just say if someone does attempt and you whack em with you're bat and they fall into the pond with you're plants then let's hope the pond has a suitable ph level :L
you should pour a bottle of nutrients in the pond just in case

the fishes should keep the water relatively nutrient rich :) plus I don't believe in PH'ing water, never done it, never will, never had any problems...

Well i will leave you with this nutrient chart to have a look at phing can be a bastard but you get use to it rather quick and this nutrient chart might scaring you into taking some consideration
Nutrient Chart.jpgDeficiency.jpg

lol nope hasn't scared me at all, though those illustrations are handy XD I've done 5 grows and (aside from bugs on one and getting busted the 1st) have been pretty much 100% successful without PH'ing, there's a long time grower on here Uncle Ben who thinks PH is pretty much bull, if you water everything else with water straight from the tap and it grows all green and healthy why on earth would you specifically PH water for what is essentially a weed (though I might be inclined to PH if I used an all water substrate such as DWC, NFT or bubbleponics etc but I grow passive hydro, so, no need XD).

Right 90% complete, only thing left to do is get/add mylar to the bits without it and put the magnetic door catches on when they arrive in the post.

Here's the final article:

Firstly I stapled 2 layers of bubble wrap onto the top, back and sides, and to fully waterproof it I nailed a twin layer of tarpaulin to the top, back and sides as well, so far despite it being winter, the ladies sleep temperatures are around 10 degrees C (still a bit too cold for them but there's nothing more I can do aside from adding a greenhouse heater (which I might do in the future).

Also finished the partition and ventilation, eventually that duct will attach to a cool tube.

SAM_1019.jpgSAM_1020.jpg

I know the plants are mega ill but they've just pissed me off lol so I'm just letting them do their thing, see how it goes, until I can afford the new light, seeds etc to start again!

In between all the gaps, not sure if you can see but I added some draft exclusion stuff to keep the light and as much of the heat in as possible, oh and air tight enough that the fan creates negative pressure. There will be 2 large plants in here in 2 x 10 litre pots which fit comfortably either side of the passive intake.

My favorite picture from my last grow, the last main cola's before final harvest.

SAM_1006.jpg

In the end I'm going to build a large shed that this grow box will go in (as I need space for tools etc), the carbon filter and fan will then be mounted on the top of the cab and the spare section will be used for a mother plant.

Sorry for the long write up!

Happy Growing and all that jazz!

Haha no.. nothing is going on :)

Thanks for stopping by! Eventually I'll have a real grow in there, going to run with Bomb Seeds "Berry Bomb" and Ceres Seeds "Orange Bud"... I well want to run Agent Orange but I can't find feminized seeds anywhere, if TGA Even does 'em femmed...

Temps are poor for the girls makes me LOL at how resilient the girls are, during lights out 4 degrees C and lights on 14 degrees C, and today the box was covered in snow XD

But in all honesty I don't care too much about this batch, just letting them do their thing slowly, getting small greenhouse heater in there when I finally get my new light.

I had to finish my last grow in a cold shed but nothing like this lol. Hope you won't mind if they get stunted a lil. Greenhouse heater is good plan, at least when you get your lights you won't need cool tubes in this weather ;)

Not particularly bothered as far as stunted'ness goes and I thinks it's more they grow slower rather than stunted.

news of the day! just ordered some beautiful looking strains that I have read good smoke reports on.

Ordered 1x G13 Sour Candy and 1x Barney's Farm Violator Kush

Well looking forward to them.

Box complete, lined with diamond mylar, ScrOG Screen fitted all that's left is to get a 250w Dual Spec.

initially I'm buying a 250w Dual spec with the generic dimpled, flexible reflector dry run it a day or so and see if I then need to get a cooltube, that way I can use the regular reflector to put above the cooltube as the only bad thing I've heard about the cooltubes is that they have shite light dispersal and the crap reflector on top would help to fix this.

I was going to go with a 400w but after literally weeks of internal monologue, I came across a thread that very accurately outlined the best lumens per foot required for the best plant growth and well seeing as a dual spec 250w HID puts out 33,000 Lumens and over the 1.5ft (d) x 2ft (w) with a recommended 5000 lumens per square foot I think that MORE than covers it at over double the recommended lumens per sq ft.

plus I don't need max penetration as its a scrog soooo, I think the 250w is the absolute best for my situation.

heres a pic of the finished article (minus the light)

SAM_1034.jpg

And of course the veg CFL + reflector for the other side as this op is going perpetual!

Here's where the grow journal starts!

Currently germinating 1 x G13 Labs - Sour Candy and 1 x Barney's Farm - Violator Kush
Popped directly into the medium after a few hours soak in room temperature water, I know 24 hours or until they sink etc but :/ not bothered.

More pics to come as it happens!

Stay Frosty!

EDIT: Ignore that piece of crap in there she's getting killed once the real grow starts (lesson learned, I don't like growing in small bottles with 100% perlite, wasted about 6 - 10 seeds, great...at least more than half were freebies!)

looking good!

are you gonna have heat under control in there without the cooltube though?

and perpetual is what I wanna do eventually. whats your vegging plant gonna reside in?

thanks man, that's what I'm testing, if my cab can handle it w/out the cooltube.
I'm buying them in that order 'cause I have a whole bunch of Amazon vouchers and will get the cooltube from there all in all it works out about £30 cheaper (but only 'cause I have the vouchers) whereas I'll get the rest of the kit from my trusted hydro shop.

Vegging girls are going in the right hand side of this box, once I have the CFL might use just the red one 'till I get a blue one to replace it. If you look at my earlier photos you'll see this section better and how I've divided the space up, got just enough space for 2 small'ish mothers and a few clones for rooting, I'll be vegging a few weeks in the flower side using the UFO in order to fill the screen before switching, the mothers are only really so I don't have to buy seeds.
