Coldwater, Mich.
A friend told Richard Laughry he could grow marijuana because he had filed for a Michigan Medical Marijuana (MMMA) card and the state cashed his money order.
I thought I was legal, Laughry, 42, told Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill OGrady.
Laughry will serve six months in jail and then be on probation for two years for manufacturing the drug at his Behnke Road home.
You may not apply for the medical marijuana card while on probation, Judge OGrady told him. You must be drug-free and will be drug tested.
