I found this very amusing and figured I would post it. Enjoy

We recently reported on states raising money through gas taxes in order to fund lawmakers pet transportation projects. One of those states mentioned was Washington. In a recently proposed transportation package, higher gas taxes were put forward as well as a bike tax on those cyclists who dont pay their fair share for the roads on which they ride. In spite of the fact that only about 4% of the Seattle DOTs budget comes from the gas tax and the fact that even bikers pay taxes that go to fund roads and highways, liberal lawmakers in Washington state still insist on bikers paying a bike tax to cover all the repairs in the roads caused by bicycles. Never mind the fact that a roads wear-and-tear from a bicycle is infinitesimal compared to that of a typical car.
But theres apparently more to the story than just the typical wealth redistribution. We cant forget about the threat that cyclists pose to the environment.
According to one of Washington states representatives who supports the bike tax, cyclists contribute to global warming, because riding a bike increases ones heart rate and respiration. An increase in respiration means that more CO2 is being exhaled, and as we know, carbon dioxide will destroy planet Earth by turning it into a ball of fire.
Representative Ed Orcutt made this statement in an e-mail exchange with a constituent who opposes the bike tax:
Also, you claim that it is environmentally friendly to ride a bike. But if I am not mistaken, a cyclist has an increased heart rate and respiration. That means that the act of riding a bike results in greater emissions of carbon dioxide from the rider. Since CO2 is deemed to be a greenhouse gas and a pollutant, bicyclists are actually polluting when they ride.
And I guess runners do too apparently. They also experience an increased heart rate and respiration when they run. They need to not only pay a shoe tax for the wear-and-tear theyre causing on the ground when they pound their feet into the pavement, but also a carbon tax for having the gall to breath air as if its free.
All these years, I thought the global warmists wanted people to get away from cars. Many of the more consistent environmentalists took to cycling. But thats not good enough anymore. Driving a car, riding a bike, running on your own two feet, breathing in your sleep these all produce carbon emissions. The most compassionate thing to do to save planet Earth from turning into fire is to eliminate humans. Perhaps these lawmakers should start with themselves.
