Most believe the MMAR will be extended as it is until the MMPR mess can be sorted out. Too many folks will become sick, hospitalized or die without their PPL or DGs license.

Even if it is extended it will not address the real problem,which is reasonable access.
It took me over 18 months just to find a doctor ,including, run around appointments made by my GP to doctors, who once signed papers
but who had already retired or who were no longer signing etc.
or like some other threads I have read,where it takes 6- 8 weeks to change your address....(are they kidding)?
WE are sick and when you are sick and hurting every day counts and goes by slowly.....
Those who govern are much more in tune with how to make money off the sick and dying,with things like the MMPR to create a new huge biz that will create huge HST numbers over time, and the re intro of oxy-contin which will save them huge over time, than they are with the reality of the situation,which is, complete legalization would allow those in need to grow or have grown for them, all that they would need to look after their medication needs.
At the same time the entire black market would disappear,since those who wanted recreational,would also be able to grow their own....
Most of the crime would be eliminated(in regards to MJ) for the same reason.
This also frees up the resources to look after real crime.....and even more resources to look into how the gov operates as well....and trust me this could use some real scrutiny.
After all people, no one should own or be able to have designs,(or treat as intellectual property) plants that grow in nature.
Even many of the people who are thinking of participating in the MMPR ,(you are rubbing us sick people wrong), with the fact that you also have designs on making money from my and others illnesses,and would be much better served with taking the approach that you are in this to help out the sick with cheap or free meds, since you know that legalization (for recreational) is just around the corner ,opening up a huge market for your future product.
I too hope MMAR gets extended, and MMPR fails.
Really its up to us sick to decide...how we proceed...if we don't purchase the product, then how many of the start up small businesses,will be able to survive,with zero customers, I estimate none. I can fall back on pills and those who can't can ,black market, or purchase from the US or over seas. No matter what the success of the MMPR
is in our sick and dying hands....lol

With the exception of yourself and one or two others I have found the opposite to be the case. I think most are accepting(but not embracing of course) that these changes are happening. The government only cares about one thing and people becoming sick, hospitalized or dying isn't it. With that being said I sure hope you're are right though.

I disagree, and if they somehow got the changes to actually be implemented the first patient to be arrested for growing would challenge the law and easily defeat it. you should research the charter of rights and freedoms and also the 2000 Supreme Court of Canada ruling on Medicinal cannabis. I have NO faith in our current government but i have supreme faith in the charter of rights and freedoms and the supreme court will always rule the same way if laws/programs violate the charter, which the MMPR does blatantly.

I can see it being extended for 1-2 years personally with a court ruling not in the conservatives favor, in my view they'd appeal their loss and that would bring us to the election so I say 1-2 years more of the current program.

In my opinion it will be extended for 12-18 months. The new Health Minister will more than likely try to draw up a new plan which allows for both PPLs and licensed producers and perhaps even local compassion clubs(longshot).
I really feel as though the Liberals will win a strong majority in 2015 and that will change the way things go forward from there. Harper and his cronies have always dreamed of dismantling the MMAR, unfortunately for them a hare-brained Inuit woman (ex minister of health) drew up a scheme that violates the charter of rights and freedoms and will NEVER survive a constitutional challenge.

Can I ask if you are a lawyer by any chance? I don't have a good working knowledge of Canadian law and the charter. It would be great if you told us you had a law degree because then we all know you're going through the details of why the conservatives won't win. I'm just going with my gut that this will be drawn out until the election comes is why I ask. So it might be an idea not to rip up our permits and to actually go ahead and renew for next year. That's what my gut is telling me. I'm saying it will be 6 months before we hear a decision from the court case that takes place on September 30th. When politics are involved the judges seem to take their time while they write out and research their decision. Brian Savage please correct me if I am wrong. Cheers.

John did say that we have time and if he has already booked the court date then shouldn't that mean he's already filed his court papers? He said he needed $10,000 to seek a professional opinion. I'm assuming he's done that. Then he managed to gather another $20,000 to start his september court date. I agree that people have been unmotivated to donate money which isn't cool since this is so important to all of us. But I did donate money and I will be quite pissed off if he does infact back away. $20K is enough in my opinion to have his day in court on the 30th of September. He can always request more time and delay that court date can't he? Beaches compassion where did you actually hear him say he wouldn't go to court if he didn't have that full 100K? I'd like to go and listen to whatever was said if it's possible.

There are court fees associated with this level of case presented to the courts. John has already put in over 100+ free hours on this. The $ collected is not for him to be "paid" but to pay for the court case and associated costs.
I don't know personally if he will be able to go or not with out the 100K but yes, it's pretty far off needing 70K so there is a chance he won't go and the April 1st date will be moved forward with on shutting down our gardens- and it will be up to the first person "caught" still growing will have to fight in court - and it could cost them upwards of tens' of thousands of dollars alone in legal fees unless they find a pro-bono or self defend POLCOA (Parliament Only Legislates, Courts Only Abrogate)
The concerning thing, is if someone is "caught" with six or more plants it's a Mandatory 6 mos jail term, sick, not sick, terminal, non terminal - 6 mos mandatory thanks to stephen harper

I think this is going to have to happen because if he hasn't raised it by now, it ain't happening! What happens to the money that was given in the hopes of a court case? Sounds like these patients get fucked coming and going?......sad...JAS

But yeah. Shame on people for not donating some amount towards this court case as it effects us all. If we want positive change we have to pull our heads out of the sand and realize it isn't going to happen unless we put the energy into it to fight and make the changes on our own motivation. We're to used to being told what to do as opposed to creating our own ways in which to live. Give people true freedom and for a while they can't make up their own minds what to do with themselves in my opinion. We need more experience with creating new ways to live that will make us happy. We're too used to being told this is how you must live within a complicated system that does nothing but destroy us inside day in and day out. So this is the time when we need to pull our thumbs out of our butts and fight Harper. I encourage everyone to pull out a fiver and send it to John Conroy. More if you can afford it. It all helps.

There are now three threads going on this thread about the court case with john conroy vs harper and the federal government. I have already posted in the other two about what I'm about to say. I emailed Jason Wilcox and I asked him if it was true that John Conroy was backing away from the case because he'd only received 30K towards his 100K goal. Jason replied that this wasn't true and that some people over in Ontario had started rumors that he was backing away. Maybe to get a rise out of people I don't know. But the case is going ahead through the first hurdle anyways. If people would donate that would be great and if people would donate towards the sensible BC campaign that would also be great. That's with Dana Larsen. He has 90 days to gather 10% of all local ridings signatures and then it orders something big in BC parliament about police not acting on harpers pot laws. So those are two things urgent help is needed for by the marijuana community. Please help in any way that you can. Thank you. Read up and spread the word if you can at the very least. Cheers!
