i just bought a lasco LCD display heater in my room. will the light given off by the temp reading affect the plants like a light leak? thanks a bunch

if you are asking if the light from the LCD display will affect the plant, if it's working in the dark period and emiting any light inside the grow room, YES

Tape a piece of cardboard over it like a flap. Lift it to read and lower it to shield the light from it.
Or cover with electrical tape. It is not super sticky and you can peel it it read and stick it back to cover.

i completely disagree.. think about how things in nature work.. is there ever a bright moon light sky in the fall when your plants are flowering?? of course there is.. is this enough to cause plants to go hermie?? or course not, or no plants outdoors would ever grow without being hermies..

sounds like a plan...will it still be able to read inside temp correctly when on auto?

Yep, light from an LCD is bright enough to affect your plants. I would cover it up or risk stunted growth or a hermie.

my power chord that i have plugged into my box is lite up, and not to mention a few other things that have small lights on them in the grow area.. and i've never, not once had one hermie, nada.. and i've grown tons of fems seeds as well, still nothing..
people really seem to be freaking out over hermies on this site for some reason, and the bs reasons people give for them turning hermie makes me lol..

thats BS, light only affects plants in the dark if its hitting the plants directly, and that is from personal experience, i have 2 AC units with digital displays, not to mention 2 atmospheric controllers with led displays, and i have not once seen a hermie in my flowering room. if i were worried i would cover it, but truth be told, from personal experience, there is no problem with a little led light, unless its inches from the plants, mine are at least 5 feet away, but are even pointed in the direction of plants. dont sweat it

thank you...that was what i was waiting to hear. i cant see a small red number being an issue.

usually you will only have a hermie plant if its genetics or you stress it out via messed up light schedules, nutrient feeding, or improper growing environment. everyone on this site will tell you it will cause hermies, most will say that because they haven't gotten there grow room dialled in properly and are mistreating their plants without even knowing, causing them to herm... think about it like this... does the moon emit light? yes, its not direct light, its reflected light, thus not screwing with the light cycle a flowering plant would need to promote female flowers
